Were there drunken Munchkin orgies and parties during filming of The Wizard of Oz?:
This is probably one of the oldest rumors surrounding the making of MGM's 1939 classic. And, guess what, it's NOT true!! So, how then, did this rumor get started. Well, believe it or not, it began clear back in 1938 by Mervyn LeRoy, the film's producer. Despite the fact that LeRoy was charmed by the Munchkins he jokingly said once, "They [the Munchkins] had sex orgies in the hotel, and we had to have police on just about every floor." And, of course, this got picked up by the media. Then, in 1962, Judy Garland appeared on The Jack Paar Show and joked of a similar incident in which the Munchkin actors partied and got drunk every night. In recent years, even her daughters, Liza Minnelli and Lorna Luft, tell about this exaggerated story that their mother told. Judy Garland was a great storyteller and jokester in her own right. And finally, to add to this rumor, a very bad film was released in 1981 called Under the Rainbow. It was a parody of sorts which highlighted the Munchkins 'rumored' uncivilized behavior while staying at the Culver Hotel in 1938. The movie had them embroiled with royalty, assassins, secret agents, and Japanese tourists.​
 
:lol: i just looked up info on this "under the rainbow" movie about the drunken munchkins..

its starring Chevy Chase and Carrie Fisher! hahah big budget names, drunk munchkins.. its gotta be good!!
