Andy sneap forum band "the unrest"

Once again, I must say that I really like the music and it would be fun to have a go mixing this track!
I you´re gonna upload the wavs, maybe you could also upload the midi track from the drums?

yea I can export the midi also :) and a txt file maybe with the bpm and short info....if I forget anything just ask in this thread :) and keep it coming I love this, first time I got so good response before and Im loving it :)

You guys rule!

Thanks again!

Thanks for all the comments regarding the music and the vocals! I was curious to see how the AKG C414 would handle harsh vox. One thing I'd like to mention though..it was the EB design. I've had no previous experience to other AKG C414s, like the B-XL II and the B-XLS, and I was wondering how it stood against those. Anybody else have any personal experience with either?

The only thing I can find is that it had 4 polar pattern variations as opposed to the usual five. I remember we settled for the hyper-cardioid pattern for this track.

Update!

I uploaded the song for you all to mix and its not that big. 379.9MB

so good luck and make sure to post it! and if anyone make a damn good mix we have the rights to use it :) right?

so let the game begin, and andy sneap! sure you can also mix this if you want to. :)

Cheers!

anyone downloaded it ? cuz I got 1% left on my ftp site..so, is it ok if I delete the file?

hmm well i already have it, so you can delete it :heh:

is there anything else going on in the 5150 tracks? no post hardware eq printed to it or anything? i liked how the raw sound sounded and tried getting close to it with my 5150 and tubescreamer but i cant seem to get close. do you guys remember any ballpark settings you used/micing positions? it would be appreciated :)

nope its the raw files, but we had a twintrak in the chain, it makes its color also. well th settings I used I think I went from the BFMV settings, I think colin posted em here, and then I just tweak the amp just a little bit.

From mic position I just used the sm57 with 20 in angel towards the "middle" of the cone maybe 1 inch away.

But funny thing now when we went back to continue on our second and third song...I re did the mic position and some settings, so I got much better sound now :)

I can post a clip with the new settings if you like? :headbang:

and our Mesa triple rec got burned up yesterday :(

Im excited how it will sounds like :)

and I know the bass (which I played it very bad hehe)...we just did the bass scratch cuz at that time we didnt have any bass player, so bare with me on that one.

Downloading it now...

I think the comression is too much, when that kick hits you can hear it squash the mix, it's not so pronounced when the vocals are present. Vocals are freakin' awesome.

yes well actually I just did a quick 2-4 hours mix and a mastering of it in like 10 min with only my headphones to listen to so be nice  :)

I make a full mix of it when the 2 other ones are done :)

and I just got 2 new genelecs :)
