hey- i have mesa rectifier standart oversized v30

it has stock V30 Speakers - cab is bought in 2008

i tried lot of stuff - lot of presets (mic, amp) - and sound color IS NOT equal to Andy's mesacab...

i was reading , as Andy writes: sm57 in mesacab..

also i got that he means oversized cab like mine (not traditional) ...

but sound color IS ANOTHER... maybe he uses another speakers in it ?

i would want to know - what speakers are loaded in his mesacab...

post eq does not work out for me.. character is totally different...

I can't believe ,2 mesacabs can sound totally different, like they have totally different speakers

p.s - these china , non china - 16-8 ohm v30 , etc - fuck my head

celestion g12 alnico gold
G12 Vintage 30
- i dunno...

^lol

Pan, maybe your problem lies elsewhere... amp, guitar, player, might be anything, not just the cab. And maybe you don't even NEED to sound like Andy...

Andy has used both the oversized and stiletto cabinets on his recordings. Using the Mesa V30's.
Most of the records he's done are just a SM57. Though recently he's been mixing it up a bit and adding some other mic's.

Variables of the chain before the cab (guitar, pickups, player, amp, amp settings, cables, pedals etc) and the chain after the cab (mic placement, room, preamps and converters) plus any processing he does during the mixing and mastering process mean that you will be unable to get exactly the same sounds as him.

Also don't underestimate how much bass guitar plays a role in the perceived size and weight of a guitar tone. So to sound exactly like Andy you'd need to get the bass tone as spot on as the guitar tone.

Try using different speakers in your cab, you will likely be very surprised at how different one speaker can sound from another, so it's not outlandish to expect that one Mesa cab will sound different from another even with the same speakers in it.

This will probably get me in trouble

You get me? You get me doh?

That's all I could hear in my head reading that...

Same!

OP. Using 5150-style amp? Boost with TS? You need at least one kind of 5150 amp, get me? 6505 of course. Get phat tones, phatter than dre's, get me? For real, you get me doe? Tighten up your amp with a TS. You need a TS get close to sneap's vibe, Get get sick vibe like sneap's. The sickest there is. Seriously. Dey sick doe. You get me? Your mate Trevor can't get mad phat tones like this. Seriously blood, pure phatness in the bass. Is you joking mad You need this.

I am using
5150 blockLetters
Dual recto 3ch
Krank rev1 series

TS9

this shit sounds same thru that cab

u got me ?

room makes sound odd and boomy - it does not change total color of sound, like there is another speakers
ts adds gain and clang ,but sound spectrum stays same

preamp cranesong spider vs rme 800 DOES not difference

//////////////////

tried gibson custom
esp eclipse
jackson rr1t and lot of DI shitZZ

ALL SOUNDS THE SAME - i hear no critical difference in sound color
////////////////

checked all of 4 speakers - all sound same.. (not like marshall)

/////////////////

mic - just on dustcap
sm57

u got me ?

if i will have time - i will record that all - WHAT i have

i mean not that and do not speak about to sound like Sneap

i ask about cabinet...
how tonally different can sound 2 mesacabs ?
how lot of v30's can differs?

if there is nothing to say - just pass.

about bass - i am not speaking about MIXES
i am speaking ABOUT his guitar only examples and tests

do you realize that if you change the mic position just a little you will have a very different sound? and this is just one reason why you cant get his sound. I dont even want to talk about the rest of the gear, as for example, guitars, pickups e.t.c

Man, just believe me, I know at least four people with same mesa cabs and TS in front 5150 who's just saying the same words -
" what a fuck I do something wrong with Sneap settings.. It is not the same purebred guitar sound like Andy. I mean I can get decent bass and treble but in general there's always lack of PUREBRED color, exactly that keyword important - purebred"
Yeah, u can do a lot of Eq's tweaking but even after it sounds a little way from starting. But mr. Sneap himself saying "I do just a touch of Eq and nothing drastically" So WTF?

Only thing that remains to us it is a using matching EQ after. Cause only that guy can provide realy drastically change in character

Seems like you spent quite some cash on your setup there, Pan. I hope you can get at least a decent tone out of all that stuff...

u got me?
