Any good mastering tips??

I've seen mastering house offer great deals on mastering your mixes for cheap, if you give them ten songs or more. If you want "radio ready" results, you may want to go to a guy. You can upload right to the studio.
I'm going to mix my own CD, but i'm going to "farm out" the final mastering (I just don't trust myself for that final, important step)

Has anyone here done any reasonable mastering?

I only ask as reading a book is one thing....

I don't have much experience with Waves plug-ins, but Ozone isn't a must and certainly not all you need for a good master.

Like someone said, you get a free 10 day trial so download it and see what you think.

Hey doclegion,

IMO the best thing you can do is to import your fav cds into your DAW and use an analyzer on it. This will visually help you in the right direction frequenzy wize...
You will now notice most of commercial tracks have a hipass @ 40hz, and a lopass @16khz.

This is ONLY a reference point, and does not allways work...

Another usefull tip is constantly A/B`ing between YOUR mix and a proffessional mix during mastering.

When it comes to gear, I assume you are going to use plugins, and I can recomend this chain:

Hipass/lopass -> UAD SSL Buss Comp -> UAD Pultec -> UAD Fatso ->Waves 316L

... but if you have the money, spend it on pro mastering and rather focus on getting you mix as good as possible :)

just my 2 cents :)
