Any opinions on the new Dark Tranquillity?

I just listened to 'The Treason Wall' and I'm sold. It instantly reminded me of In Flames back in their hay day among a million other things, but good stuff.

Hah. You compared them to In Flames. Hilarious?

More specifically 'The Treason Wall' reminded me of The Jester Race. Do I need new ears?

I just gave it another listen before I return it and the only thing it did for me was make the new Soilwork disc sound better.

Well I got it yesterday and have only listened to it about 3 times yet, but it's a very nice album. A bit more diversity wouldn't have hurt - they could've thrown in some Projector touches, for example, or a few Haven-ish tracks (without the rediscovered heaviness), just for the sake of diversity. The songs are all good, but after the 6th track with the same structure and the same sound it can get a bit tiring. They seem to sound more like their Melodeath fellows (In Flames & co.) than ever; they also seem to have reduced their "melancholic" touch a bit... Anyway, I don't regret the buy. Fans of DT or Melodic Death Metal in general can't go wrong with this one.
By the way, the video to "Monochromatic Stains" that's included as a multimedia track is (involuntarily) funny at times
