a friend of mine has one of these and he absolutely loves it. looks and sounds awesome as well.

schecters rule i have a custom-4 stilletto bass, ive never played anything with such beautiful tone and such a nice look, its 2 different shades of wood color
looks all nice and blind guardian but has a beautiful death metal sound(like cryptopsy's in defenestration) also the action is as low as a guitars
only cost me 500 that i had to save up 3 months for but ive played 2000 dollar basses that don't even come close to touching
and out of the schecter guitars ive played their all really nice sounding, feel good and look nice.
sorry rambling, i love me bass though just need a nice amp to match it

probably the best 7 string that is widely available is the ibanez jem 7 string. ibanez, in my opinion, perfected the seven string, and the jem is probably ibanez's best guitar available in the states. not cheap, but a solid axe.

also, i believe loomis plays on a custom shop 7 string, so it isn't any name brand that he uses.
