because i'm getting tired of skipping cds and it's only getting worse, so i think it's time i broke down and did them shitz.

I listen to cds in the car and at home 'cause i don't have a lot of my cds downloaded or ripped. if i was smart i'd at least burn the cd and listen to a cdr copy of it!

i have almost all my stuff on hard drive as mp3's, and i never listen to cd's anymore. i buy them, rip them, ooh-aah at the cover art, put them in the shelf, listen to the mp3's.

Yeah, I do exactly the same. Sometimes it makes me wonder why I spend thousands of dollars a year on this. Then I remember that I do it to support the bands, of course, but still...

Oh, and it makes my cd shelves look damn good!

oh and of course, VINYL >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> YOUR MOTHER >>>>> CD>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>mp3
you left the last part out

but sadly, though i resent the drop in quality, i didn't want to ship all goat-knows-how-many cd's i have up here to portland. i'm not a huge audiophile so i don't have too big a problem with it, still a bummer though. i have everything on my itunes/ipod, it's convenient at least...

yeah well if you do quality ripping methods, i.e. use exact audio copy for ripping, encoding with LAME codec using at least the --alt-preset standard alogorithm, you should barely notice any differences under typical listening situations...

unless you're a l33t audiophile.. but then what are you doing listening to mp3s to being with if thats the case, heh

mp3s get a bum rap because of all the cheap ass codecs that have always been around, and packaged with the programs that everyone uses

Same here , I only encode to send shitz to some friends . Or stuff I really really listen to all the time.

Everything of mine is ripped to Mp3, then meticulously organised and filed. Takes many hours, but gives me a reason to wake up in the morning.
