i am, i would badly love to live in that time and be a knight of gondor, im gonna save up and buy clothes like that and im ordering a helmet and a sword.

I'm reading it for the third time now. The last book I read before I started reading it again, was also Lord of the rings, about a year and a half before. Guess you might call that some kind of obsessed. But I just don't read that much, and I like to read that book. So what the Fuck!!

I've only seen the movie, and I didn't care for the story all that much (everything else, however, that makes a movie a good one was in it, especially the sets). I'm assuming the book is better, but even though I read all the time, the only fiction I tend to really enjoy is horror. Fantasy really ain't my thing.

btw. Morgour, you really should start doing some 'live action role playing'. I was going to do it few month's ago, but I was short of time that period. Maybe next time. It's like role playing ( the dungeons and dragons stuff, which is pretty cool) but then outside in the woods, with medieval clothing and some rubber weapons to bash at eachother. seems fun to me. I want either a two handed sword, or an extremely brutal battle axe. :)

EvilGenius, I suggest that you at least give the Two Towers (the one that is coming out this Christmas) a chance. Since you haven't read the books, I'll assume you don't know that Fellowship of the Ring (the one you saw) was basically all setting. It is to get the viewer aquainted with Middle Earth; so the story isn't the most interesting, because not a whole lot happens. It's best to remember that Fellowship is only the first 1/3 of the story, so it is far from a complete tale. Your complaint was (is) a very common one.

I've never read the books, but I really liked the movie. Two Towers is gonna be great. My brother really likes the books, I don't know if I'll ever get around to reading them.

I guess one might say i am obsessed..
I have read LOTR 4 times (one in english, 3 in swedish), Bilbo 3 times, Silmarilion 2 times, lost books ( the appendixes(is that how it is spelled??)) 2 times, all of Tolkiens child books (letters to santa etc.) and pretty much grab everything i can get hold of.
Also listened to the audiobooks of LOTR (both swedish and english) and silmarilion.
seen the movie 6 times...
i wont even start to count all different versions (swedish translations of the books) i have...

YEEEES! Check out my avatar. I am in a Lord of the Rings club at school and i Just happened to meet two other metal heads in that club. Out of the school of 2400 students we are the only three metal heads there. But anyways, I love the books and I love the movie. I would love to live in the Lord of the Rings time era.

Y'know, I live in Wellington, where most of the production was based, and I still haven't gotten around to seeing that movie yet. :spin:

Shame on you! Go see it.

I like it alot, but not as obsessed as say, Blind Guardian.

I find the other works of Tolkien more interesting than the Lord of the Rings - especially Silmarillion and everything else describing the First Age of Middle-Earth has had a huge effect on me. Still, LotR is one of the best books ever - just not as enthralling as Silmarillion.

About the movie, I was slightly disappointed of all the "hollywoodisms" there (ie. Arwen's enlarged role, etc) and all the short-cuts they made. Well, hopefully the extended DVD-version will correct the latter... Anyone has it already, btw?

Hehe, LotR is amazing, my favourite book(s). I've read the Hobbit, but haven't got round to reading any others yet. Shame on me.

I've got it in about 6 minutes :)

Considering how much of a monster the story is, I think people should be glad that Lord of the Rings is as well made as it is. It almost never happens that companies take on an entire trilogy simultaneously. If the first one flops, you're pretty much screwed with the other two. Granted, I can't stand Liv Tyler, but I can tolerate her for the rest of the movie.
