I think Rzeznik is a great songwriter and vocalist (in the studio at least.) I also respect the fact that the band spends such a good bit of their time helping children and children's charities.

Hmm.... I'm surprised at the lack of response from this one. I typically can't stand power pop, but they are simply the best at what they do. Rzeznik has a great rock voice and a great guitar tone and he writes catchy tunes that hold up well for pop music.

I agree Bryant. I think the Goo Goo Dolls are a great band. I like a lot of their stuff and especially when it’s really orchestrated. They write a lot of really catchy melodies and they’re a lot of fun to listen to. I can understand why a lot of people don't like them, but it’s really just their loss.

I knew eventually someone would stop in that digs them. It's not my style to push a band I don't really think has something special to offer listeners. Beyond any other explanation, the thing I like about "The Dolls" (as long as Rzeznik is singing) is the fact that I can lose myself in their music like I can typically only do with metal. The only difference is it is in a popular format, but hey........I don't care. I hope I can turn someone on to them that might like them. I'll take flak from as many people as want to give it, but someone might give them a chance and hear what you and I hear from them, namely a great modern rock band that knows how to make some great music.

Insipid, dull, and uninspired drivel. If you want poppy rock, listen to someone good like Cave In, not The Goo Goo Dolls, who could give Soul Asylum a run for the money in the claim of most mundane rock band to ever exist.

Bryant, as you know, I very much like GGD. One of the few who have the balls to admit it. I really dig the Smiths, too.
*sits back and awaits the slew of 'gay' remarks from homophobic, wannabe hard-asses of the forum*

You know, constructive criticism is really an entry-level concept. It never ceases to amaze me how it manages to baffle so many.

I'm not familiar with The Smiths, but I don't care about the negative feedback. I love Bryant more than anyone else in this world so I enjoy giving my opinions and while I certainly do enjoy positive feedback, if it doesn't come, I won't go crawl in a corner and sulk. I should have been born in management as opposed to the technical field as I love to hear myself talk. Ha ha ha. I take that back !! I actually make sense once in a while, so I can't be in management. >:p~
As far as constructive criticism is concerned, I disagree with you. Once in a blue moon I will pull out the "such and such sucks" but it's very very rare. I think it is experience and maturity that teaches one to be tactful as opposed to intellect and worldliness. Metal music is typically for the young, but in my case the young at heart. I've been listening to metal for 20 years and I have been "online" for almost 10. If there had been an internet when I was 18, I would have sounded about the same as many here.

I think the Goo Goo Dolls are very good. I've spent a lot of time listening to their music and I think that they should be far bigger than they are (in the UK anyway). Power-pop should always be so emotional. Oh...and yeah, I love his use of different tunings. :p

I hope they do get some more exposure in the UK. They are a fine band. If pop bands were more like them, I might blow the dust off of my tuner abd use it once in a while.
