Anyone want pop-punk mixing practice? (mayday parade cover)

Thanks brett, really appreciated! you made me discover a great band.

I really dig your guitar tone (model??) and the way vocals cut through the mix. Maybe the snare reverb could be a tad lower in general (and automate the send during the verses to get that long tail) Anyway great mix and awesome vocals btw!

So here's my modest take on it
Don't have my amp at home right now so i had to make do with ampsims :S
I made up some effects here and there, let me know what you think! I think the bass tone turned out really great, so great that i mixed it too loud! lol

yeah man mix sounds pretty good! other than that little weird ride thing you mentioned in a comment above this one haha. But yeah aeonix posted that midi and I redid the mapping for the drums to what slate mapping is on my computer so here if you're still having a problem http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3175304/mayday stuff/new midi.zip

Also you asked about my guitar tone I used a california carved top Carvin and reamped it through my TH-30 orange head with an orange 2x12 cab and a single 57 slightly off axis. I quad track and I use pod farm on my doubles to shape the tone to what I feel the orange is missing in the mix. Hope that helps

Brette344, could you tell me what mics did you use for the vocals and what bass did you record with? Thanks!

For the vocals I used a Rode NTK and for bass the only thing I had on hand was some cheap peavy bass so I just threw on some new strings to try to make the di sound somewhat decent.
