anyone wants to buy/already bought the Wii?

Got a Wii when it was released in Australia a few weeks back and absolutely find it a great system.

As for Twilight Princess, all I have to say is: "I am now Princess Zelda's Bitch".

Played it for almost 12 hours straight (a good thing to have for a mild Agoraphobe such as myself) and find it a most enjoyable game, once you get past the initial controls and getting use to how to play the game.

As for your question, iskur: The Wii has an inbuilt HD to which you save your games, download old Nintendo games and handle on-line data.
You can only use the old GameCube memory card for GameCube games and data and it also comes with a port for camera memory cards but that is only for the photo storage and manipulation fuctions.

Overall, it's a very easy to use and set up. The loading time is quick and the start up screen (where you handle all the functions of the Wii) is quite intuitive and even fun to use.
Next year, Nintendo will be setting up more online channels and functions as well as bringing out games with DS connectivity.

all in all, I would highly recommend the Wii to anyone with little consol experience but with a big love of games.
Also good for families and lots of friends, because of the party games (Wii Sport and Rabid Rabbies).

Sony patented motion recognition technology (reported yesterday?), which they are going to improve comparing to Wii; some say it's going to recognize somewhat your pose (you duck - your character ducks, and stuff).

I'll be surprised if that works half as well as they want it to.

Well, they put out Wii with half-ass straps :D

It will work, definitely, thing is - they aren't the first, but they have a more powerful console.

The only console game I'm interested in so far is Assassin's Creed: saw a 360 presentation, some innovative gameplay features (complete freedom as in you can climb on anything should be awesome), similar to Prince of Persia (what I've seen at least).

Im always wondering, who the Hell plays games like that? Where you have to duck to make your character duck, or catch imaginery balls or whatever.. when I play a game, I want to relax, not do some weird-ass kind of sport with my console/computer

sony already did something in that direction on the ps2 with the eye toy cam. It filmed you, you appeared on the screen, and for example, there was a game in witch you had to move your hands like if you were doing karate to hit and kill the ennemies.

People who don't normally play video games?

And it depends - I would do it for a change; it wouldn't be a requirement to move, I think, there should be an option where you can just use the controller and drool all over yourself.

On the otehr hand: yo move, and you don't spend too much time playing, cuz you are supposed to get tired :D

Oh yeah, they were referring to that, but they said it's going to be taken to the next level.

On the topic of 'tracking', my gf is an avid Star Trek fan. She checks the site every now and then, and noticed a funny poll. They had a question on which of the following people would buy their kids. Ranked #2 right now is "World of Warcraft: Holodeck Edition". Helly fuckin yeah I'd get that.

For now, though, these other technologies are going in the right direction, even if they aren't fully developed. I'm all for more activity while playing video games - hell, I spend enough time on them that it'd help me out to not be sitting the whole time. I'm just a bit afraid of how addicting games like WoW would become if they truly were fully immersive.

But how many people dont normally play video games but then go buy the latest PS3 / Wii and stuff? 90-95% of the typical gamers, I just dont see doing that in their room. But maybe that's just me and the clever marketting guys have it all figured out already

Well, take a look at Wii site - there's a whole lot of different people trying it out, so called "target audience", not all of them a hard-core gamers as I can see it.

Some will buy both/all next gen consoles, and will be playing Wii only cuz of innovative controllers, not because it kicks ass that much or anything; I don't normally play video games, but, honestly, I would consider a Wii after all. Out of curiosity, boredom or whatever.

i think wii is good option because of the innovative controllers just as plintus said...a lot of people will chose the wii because of that...its a new way of playing

My friend bought Wii and yesterday I tried it for the first time. The controller works surprisingly well, but I wasn't too impressed of any of the actual games I tried. I suppose I'm too old and tired to swing my arms around to play a game.

As for other consoles / games, I've got Xbox 360 basically just for Dead or Alive 4. It is exactly the kind of game I want to play on a console: fast-paced, mindlessly silly and visually impressive. For more serious gaming I can always play old hex- and turn-based strategy games on PC.

version 2(slightly improved)

Ring, ring
Hello
Groove
(I'm known to my friends as groove, the groove or da groove)
You all can call me Dave or La Rocque
Mike, what's up
Are you still on eBay
Yes, several time
(why you ask more than 1 eBay ID? ... to bend the rules of commerce)
... Mike is a manger of a large retail store ...
I'm getting the xbox 360 in a few days, maybe we can sell some on eBay?
This conversation occurred about 2 week before the xbox went on sale to the public.
Mike said he would give me 3 of the xbox but needed $1500 in case something went wrong ... no problemo
... understand Mike would of lost his job if he was found doing this ...
So about 5 days before the games were available for sale he hooked me up with the 3 xbox
that day I put them on the eBay and in the description wrote *in hand* ready for immediate shipping
to show I had them in my possession I took a photo of the games with that days USA Today
Started the bidding at $999.99 or But It Now $2750, use Buy It Now and receive free shipping
of course there was a mania at that time for the new xbox:
I got to be the first to have one
I'll get in line 3 days before they go on sale
I'll stand in the rain for hours
It was late went to bed, when I woke up the next morning, before I left the crib check the eBay
all 3 xbox sold for the Buy It Now which if you're good at math adds up to $8250 plus all the funds had been paid to my PayPal account
BTW all 3 had sold in less than an hour plus I had about 30 'ask the seller a question' inquiries, I just deleted the questions without answering ... (O/T) I do deleting of emails and whatever all the time without reading them.
So I packed the xbox in the boxes and off to the post office.
It took a few day to transfer the money from my PayPal account to my bank account
I took out my $1500 and after the fees(eBay fee, PayPal fee, postal fee, insurance fee, confirmation delivery fee) we ended up with a little over $6500 to the good, I took $3000 and gave $3500 to Mike
This all happened just before the Christmas buying season
As not too much of the above had much meaning in my life other than something to do and to show myself I'm not a complete money grubbing fuckn' capitalist pig scum, I gave most of the cash away.
I don't know if this is a world wide thing? But at the Christmas Season the Salvation Army has hobos standing next to these red pot hanging from a tripod, ringing a bell, asking people to donate money for people in need. So I put a $1000 in one of those red pots.
I saw where a local church had a "Coats for Kids" campaign , so I gave them a $1000.
It was kind of a spur of the moments thing, I flew up to NYC on the remaining xbox money, wondered around there for several days. On the way back here as I was walking through the Pittsburgh Airport, some organization was collecting money for a abused woman's shelter, I had a few hundred dollars left from the xbox nonsense so I gave it to them
This is rare brush with games/gaming for me as I've never(evah) played a video game(?) or held a controller(?) in my hand.
I'd much rather read a book, masturbate, go out to the park and feed the ducks -

...I gave most of the cash away.

Well, it all sounded quite good, before you started giving away $$$ to the by-standers. If it's all about scoring some big points with the guy upstairs - you'd better have a receipt :heh:

I'd much rather read a book, masturbate, go out to the park and feed the ducks -

Which book makes you masturbate and go feed ducks?

I really suggest the non-believers to give Wii a try... Because it's really soooo much fun, and I really think it's a leap in the right direction.
And, as so many times before, Nintendo delivers some seriously great games (Zelda in particular), way better than the competitors, IMHO.

for how long?

Return in 5 months and let us know what you think of those innovative controllers.

Wii might be a big hit, and Nintendo scoring some big sales atm, but with poor graphics and narrow game library, poor network support (as I heard as of now) - dunno, my bet is on the box (as of february 2007 :heh: )

As any fan boy would say, it's not about killer graphics. And it's not, it's about game content, at least that's a big part of the experience.

Game library is poor, just like any other console released some weeks ago.

Network support works like a charm here, even with WPA-PSK (did not work at all with the NDS)

So, it's not about graphics (oh, of course).

How 'bout gameplay? Anything innovative except the way you handle the controllers?

See Assassin's Creed as a reference to some new gameplay features.

Well, the graphics ain't THAT bad either, just not as good as the competitors.

Gameplay is good, and it's not like you have to run around the apartment while playing Zelda, I sit down all the time. Wii sports is another story tho.. :p

Coming to Montreal? I'll bring it ;)

Edit: Nope, haven't had a look at Assassins Creed, I'll look into it
