Anything else like Carcass - "Heartwork" CD?

I have received this on Monday and fucking love it to bits... the music more than the vocals and the lyrics, although they are fun as well... any recommendations for band with a similar sound as this album only? old and new?

Basically American bands have been working on making a shittier version of Heartwork with more hardcore influence for the better part of a decade now.

their '93 album Heartwork may be their best, but their '95 Swansong, and their '96 Wake Up and Smell the Carcass are about as similar as you can get, and they do have great songs on them. far more similar than any different band.

Symphonies is their best, but yes, a number of the tracks on Wake Up... would probably appeal to you. Swansong is sort of similar, a little more thrash and less melodeath.

If you don't have Necrotism yet, you might wanna check it out. It's not all that similar to Heartwork, but there are plenty of recognizable elements (it's the same band, after all) and it's an awesome, awesome album.

Necroticism is easily their best. The bridge between their grind beginnings and their more melodic death metal endings.

Grab Arsis's "A Celebration of Guilt". Probably the most catchy Death Metal album ever.

It's not a death metal album, but it's a competently well-written and well-performed melodic death album.

I find a lot of brutal and pseudo-brutal death (Skinless, Benighted, Dying Fetus, that kind of thing incredibly catchy.

yes! another person who likes benighted; catchy, yes. the first thing i thought when listening to Icon was, "wow, this this is carcass-y, brutal, and riff laden all in one."

fuck yea. Benighted is the only Brutal Death that ever really stood out to me.
