Apparent band/album preferences of UM members vs. common metalheads

Too many people jizz over the latest techmetal and 'djent' shit on any other forum you go to. Fucking Periphery, Scale The Summit, Between The Buried and Me praise left and right. I mean, I enjoy what those guys do as much as the next guy, but constantly dumping your jizz into a circlejerk doesn't really get any new ideas or views around and it gets pretty boring pretty fast imo.

That's one thing I like about this place. Everyone has their own opinion as opposed to "COLORS IS AWESOME, DUDE!" That being said, Manilla Road and Morbid Angel seem to get a shit ton of praise here.

Great to see Order From Chaos being mentioned, they are pretty much perfect.
The people that call themselves metalheads IRL that I know personally always crap on about shit like Children Of Bodom, fucking Alestorm and stuff like that.I've tried to put a few of them onto some good stuff but they don't seem to compute and it basically goes in one ear and out the other

Sorry for the large size, but I wanted to make sure it was easily readable.

That's great, Matt.

Kids who enjoy Death Metal or wish to know more about it should definitely listen to Master's two first albums (and get them) -
the 1990' S/T and 1991's "On the Seventh Day God Created... Master"

Forgotten Legends indeed. :kickass:

^ I only own Hex and Goat albums, both great. It's not easy to pick something to get though, these guys have released like a fucking thousand EPs, Splits, live albums, compilations, etc.

They're another good example among underrated USDM bands.

It's really a damn shame that I don't own more from Nunslaughter. They're a band that I almost sort of take for granted is always going to be there plugging away and maintaining the status quo. Their music is (generally) so simple and straightforward yet perfectly balanced that they really should have a broader audience. They're about as authentic a group of people as you'll find in the scene as well. Metal lifers with a sense of perspective.

Same with me,I only own Hex and Goat.I had the pleasure of meeting Don at an Incantation gig in Melbourne and he seemed like a great guy.Metal as fuck are Nunslaughter!!

the whole techdeath/djent scene is truly awful.

indeed, djent is pretty crappy, outside one or two song by Animals As Leaders

....but i dont see what djent has to do with tech death.:erk:

the poster above was discussing both styles, thus i responded in regards to both... however both have an overemphasis on technical virtuosity

Eh, I hate djent as much as most of you but I think it's kinda hard to classify Animals as Leaders as djent even if they are influenced. It's more of Tosin Abasi's lovechild instrumental album with a variety of styles.

Tech-death as a whole is pretty darn bad though.

Ok, I've just learnt what 'djent' is... not particularly interested in the bands that play it, but I might like a few songs that have that sort of sound. The 'Brujerizsmo' song comes into mind.

this is one of the only Animals As Leaders tracks i like.

i dont consider djent a genre, Animals As Leaders is pretty much progressive metal, but theres tons of djent incorporated into Abasi's music.

Ultra-shitty music with one of the worst names ever. Extremely skillful musicians though.
