i was literally, literally, about 30 minutes away from ordering PT 8 le as a standalone editing program since editing audio in logic 8 sucks donkey balls but with the new shit they are talking about i shall hold off for a while.

though i am going to get PT anyway very soon just got excited about all this editing shit

Looks like a great upgrade. The new editing tools look nice. The amp sims even sound decent, mainly the vintage ones (not the metal ones.)

i will say i've used the guitar amp sim sometimes for leads and clean parts a lot when i get lazy

not even lazy, the clean shit sounds very very very good.

nothig will ever replace a cranked tube amp for rock distortion but for cleans the guitar amp pro is real nice and mad convenient.
