The I love Logic 9 thread!

Does someone knows if logic 9 will work with leopard 10.5.5?

It will, but you need to do some command line wizardry to trick the installer into thinking you have 10.5.7

here's how...........

log in as administrater

in the terminal type:

cd /system/library/coreservices/ [Press Enter]

nano -w systemversion.plist [Enter]

this will bring up some text, where it says 10.5.5, just change to 10.5.7

Then: CTRL+X

Y [Enter]

and then reboot the machine.

it worked for me, Logic installed and runs just fine. Mainstage doesn't seem to work though, but i can live without it.

Wow thanks a lot man!

Do you guys know how to make Logic show waveforms after you've recorded without closing and reopening it? My internets search has proved no avail. I'm sure it's just a stupid setting I'm missing somewhere.

Thats sounds really weird, Logic always draws the waveform while recording on my machine.

It draws them while recording, but after you stop, it just shows a blank waveform. But the audio is there. It just doesn't draw the preview until you close Logic and re-open it.

thats so strange... like tricking the computer? how did you find out how to do this?

Ya, the installer will look for that line of text and take it as gospel.
it worked for me (10.5.5) , but i cant guarantee that Logic9 will definatly work for you, seeing as your OS is quite a few version numbers old. try it and see.

i frequent a few Hackintosh forums and it came up in a topic. Quite a neat trick :)

i hope it works for you.

yea ill let you know when it comes in the mail in a couple of days. thanks for the tip.

The only problem I've run into is sometimes I get the spinning wheel for maybe 10 seconds when working with the flex tool. Other than that it rocks.

Just renewing my love for logic 9,

never been so content with a daw, so easy to time drums and edit

Logic 9: Tips for phase-locked drum edits

Gonna have to experiment and see if this is better or worse or even just faster than beat detective & Elastic Audio

I love the interface for Pedalboard and Amp Designer, very intuitive.

Please do report back,
i've seen a few reports on other forums on this subject but i'd like to hear it from a Sneapster.

I haven't done much drum editing with Flex yet, but what i have experimented with worked very well. i've never used Beat Detective so i cant compare.

Oh, and whats your opinion on Amp Designer and Pedalboard? i must say i'm slightly disappointed by them. the clean-ish tones are pretty good but the high-gain stuff is a bit of a let-down.

I haven't tried them on guitars yet, just on drums and synths LOL. I loved that you can move the mics around and there's some tonal variation that's usable with it. Unlike Guitar Rig that just sounds like shit in any position. I think for a free/bundled software it's fantastic, much better than what you get from Digidesign, Eleven Free.

I'd probably not have to buy PODFarm, but I don't know for sure.

The bugs in PT 8 and stability issues on my PC at times are getting to me, I doubt I'll ever switch to Logic completely. (Reaper runs great but doesn't do everything I need)
