New logic is out!!

just got off the phone with mommy, she is going to buy it for me! yay!

for those who r thinking of going the hackintosh route: why? macs are so affordable nowadays. logic replaces hundreds of dollars worth of 3rd party shit, so buying a mac is worth it in my books!

Hhahaahahahahahahaahaha, I just googled Logic 9, and this is the first image that came up:

I don't doubt it is when mommy buys it! :Smug:

I'm hanging to see how Digi will respond to this. Cue: half-decent native solution please.

lol yeah fair enough. my mommy generally doesnt buy me stuff though. just this once kinda as a gift because my girlfriend is pregnant. probably the last piece of gear I will get for a LOOOOOONG time!

Affordable? I think I'll take a page out of Pete's book for this one:

so in fear of fuckin things up i installed 9 but still using 8 to wrap up two projects on 8 before i make the switch in case anything happens in the transfer but on some scarce down time i played with it a bit and everything works as advertised then again i haven't done anything real just loaded old drum sessions. definitely have to take a night out and just read the manual and fiddle with it but i really like what i see.

as far as speed, i never really noticed an issue with 8 it only gets sluggish upon loading a full mix with shitloads of tracks and plug ins and stuff maybe takes 30 seconds or so which isn't that bad i mean what you expect. then again i have a pretty jacked 2008 mac pro so that helps but regardless i never had "sluggish" issues with 8.

Flex editing is unbelievable!
Had a quick go with a previously recorded session.

Group the kit and select phase locked editing, Select "Q" on the recorded triggers, select slicing mode for the kit then quantize to 16s. Drums PERFECTLY in time.
Next select the bass then quantize.
Next phase lock the guitar di to the recorded amp track and quantize guitars using "Q" on the di track. Guitars sorted.
Better still would be to record the guitar DIs using an amp sim for monitoring then quantize the DI track then reamp.

I am starting a 4 day session tomorrow so I will flex edit the drums before tracking bass and guitar. Should sound super tight.
Amazing update.

For me, Logic 8 would get a bit slow in the visuals while scrolling or zooming through a massive project during playback, seems to be a lot smoother in Logic 9. sessions seem to load quicker too.

Has anyone here checked out the Killers an Lilly Allen sessions that are included on the "Demo Content" DVD? its good fun flexing the vocals and drums around.

fuck i forgot about that which lilly allen song. is the "the threat" or whatever, the lead single from her new album. because it was also features in a sound on sound article last month or the one before with great detail about the mix so it would be really cool to have the "recipe" in SOS as well as the actual thing. are all the plug ins and shit in there with the automation and individual tracks or is it like just a "producers edition" with stems?

Theres some processing on the vocal tracks that's printed to the track but automation is there etc.

Not sure what demo tune it was but I solo'd out the vox and bypassed sends/inserts and there was verb and such on the track.

Edit:
The track I'm talking about is the Santigold tune

Just loaded this up at the studio. I'm actually excited to try it out cuz the studio only uses digital performer. I hate it.
