Yeah, the poet has to really suffer when he writes his lines, it's the only way to fill them with the necessary emotion... He has to write and correct his words until he thinks that he achieved his goal... make someone feel exactly like he's feeling. Personally I think that being a poet is atrocious, if you don't feel pain, if you don't suffer, you can't write. Btw, I think that "happy" poems could even exist, but if you don't feel the pain while giving birth to them the result will suck. So basically poetry is about sufferings.
