it's your first post so i''ll give you as much as i can
drums were basically mostly natural AFAIK and the only samples used were of chris adlers kit but he overdubs whacky stuff like clanging pipes amongst others and mixes them in to create sounds such as the "clank" snare.
ashes of the wake and sacrament were recorded in the same room i think with the same drumset but the two mixes are just different because, well, they were mixed differently. sacrament is more squished together and much warmer wheras AOTW is more open and the instruments have their own space. i personally like sacrament a lot more and it is my fav mix anyway.
the guitars are mostly all 95% mesa mark ivs - > mesa recto cabs -> single sm57.
a lot of reamping was done for overdubs throgh low gain but gritty amps like tech 21, orange, marshalls etc. just to increase pick attack in certain parts of songs which are pretty evident ESPECIALLY in ashes of the wake.
there are more details available upon request, and using the search function, and also on the net and on the dvd that came with sacrament and with the sacrament producers edition cd which contains individual components (drums, both guitars, bass, vox, etc.) and allows people to do this ->
