anyone have any insight into the actual mix on this album... i know machine did it, but it seems a lot more sparse than sacrament which he also produced and mixed... i personally like the ashes of the wake sound better... particularly the drums (specifically kick), any chance anyone has the samples or know what was used?

if this has been discussed a million times and someone still knows where the tread is, just link me, thanks

use the search function, this has been discussed 8 million times....

don't want to be a dick, but why are you asking us to find the thread for you, when you can do it yourself? Even if we didn't have a search function, do you think we keep tabs of what threads talk about what albums, just incase someone asks us about it in the future??

sorry to rant, but like I said, this has been discussed ALOT, and if you use the search function, you'll find tons of information about both albums Machine did

it's your first post so i''ll give you as much as i can

drums were basically mostly natural AFAIK and the only samples used were of chris adlers kit but he overdubs whacky stuff like clanging pipes amongst others and mixes them in to create sounds such as the "clank" snare.

ashes of the wake and sacrament were recorded in the same room i think with the same drumset but the two mixes are just different because, well, they were mixed differently. sacrament is more squished together and much warmer wheras AOTW is more open and the instruments have their own space. i personally like sacrament a lot more and it is my fav mix anyway.

the guitars are mostly all 95% mesa mark ivs - > mesa recto cabs -> single sm57.

a lot of reamping was done for overdubs throgh low gain but gritty amps like tech 21, orange, marshalls etc. just to increase pick attack in certain parts of songs which are pretty evident ESPECIALLY in ashes of the wake.

there are more details available upon request, and using the search function, and also on the net and on the dvd that came with sacrament and with the sacrament producers edition cd which contains individual components (drums, both guitars, bass, vox, etc.) and allows people to do this -> http://66.181.209.3/ARAM/7stringLOG.mp3

when they are bored lol

see the thing is the search function doesn't become available until you are a registered user... in my haste i did not notice it had become available prior to posting my first message

but thank you i appreciate your help
