I brought the Japanese girl to my room and played some Blood Stained Child and Chthonic for her. In fact, she'd never even heard of metal music. I don't think she liked it or disliked it, but she seemed interested enough and said that she doesn't think it's popular in Japan.

She is from rural Japan, so I'm not sure how much of a difference that makes. Also, while there are probably Americans who don't understand the scale of the metal scene, I don't think there are very many who don't even know what metal is.
