Audiophile Crap

My next endeavor:

It doesn't have anything to do with having an ear. It's about who has the most expensive and rare equipment

sometimes i think about doing that

then i realize what that would consist of actually doing and i tell myself to fuck off

I'm going to be doing it eventually as well, despite the massive time sink it will be. The benefit is absolutely worth it. Just haven't bothered until I get a rig up and running that I am planning on using to serve the flac files and all other media to the rest of my devices.

I've read various discussions on the actual value of using FLAC vs. 320 CBR. And I'm guessing we've probably had that conversation here before. However, since we're on topic, does it really make a difference? And if so, is it a difference most people can hear? Or only a difference that those with trained ears and high-end equipment can pick out?

Well, it depends on the actual source recording the most, then the equipment used and sample rate. There are many factors that go into it. The reason I am doing it is because, unfortunately, I noticed a difference between my 320CBR and FLAC material and now must do it because of this. It's noticeable in the extreme ends of the audio spectrum the most.

FLAC is good for archival purposes too though because it is a bit perfect rip and you can always convert it to whatever you want quic and easily in the future for whatever application you desire.

I need a decent pair of headphones but I don't want to spend more than $100 or so. I could read CNET reviews but I'll just ask here. Wait, where's my question mark? <-- There it is.

I loved those, but I accidentally ripped the chord out. so for 2 weeks it was great.
