Audiophile Crap

No. it was a good chord. I stepped on the chord when it was on the ground, then tripped over it with the other foot. Ripped it right out.

Got this lil fucker:

my computer speakers finally died on me. this comes as no surprise as the subwoofer has been cutting out for the past year and a half and i've been kicking it to get it working again. a well placed heel strike does the job beautifully.. until now. left channel is out completely. these are shitty computer speakers with plastic woofers (klipsch promedia 2.1), so i have absolutely no urge to go into the sub and attempt to fix it.

anyywaayy, what started as a quest to find the cheapest bookshelves/receiver possible to replace the setup now has me looking at 1k+ dacs, to say nothing of amplification. too bad cheap vintage receiver gear doesn't have optical (spdif) out... course then it wouldn't be vintage. getting some used spendor s3/5 speakers tonight.

fuck you for being right ken

FUUUCKK YOUUUUUU

sidenote - i've found a whole separate level of digital file nerdery that i didn't even know existed. DSD? DXD? WHAT??!?!

oooh, yeah.

Edit: Don't worry about DSD unless you just wanna hear beautiful sounding "music" that you have no interest in whatsoever. The only time you'll ever use it is to impress your friends. Like SACD, HDCD, etc, that shit won't catch on because the general population could give a fuck and is happy listening to 128kbps mp3 files on their iPud out of their free iBuds...unless they go crazy and buy a pair of sweet-looking, kickass Skullcandys....or go completely beserk and buy a pair of Dre Beats and look cool as fuck wherever they go.

Isn't SACD for classical shit that nerds like to listen to to try and catch notes that they don't even know the names of?
