Awesome-sounding non-metal albums

Every The Reign of Kindo has done. Just epic musically and production wise.

Have you heard their new album? I heard one song on MySpace and it was totally different to their first two efforts.. in a really bad way. edit:holy fuck I just watched vid, until the singer came in I thought this was their studio recording doing it live. Fucking impressive.
edit edit: I'm getting chills listening to Nice to Meet You live, this band is so fucking incredible.

Ulver - Shadows of the Sun

Alan Parsons Project: 'I wouldn't want to be like you.'

A little bit on the disco side, but damn what an amazing snare sound!

Black - Wonderful Life

Title song and Everything `s Coming Up Roses were hits, but the rest of the songs are absolutely awesome and a whole album is a masterpiece.

Inception soundtrack - Hans Zimmer
Mass Effect OST / Mass Effect 2 OST
Porcupine Tree - Deadwing / In Absentia / Lightbulb Sun
Queensryche - Promised Land
Joe Bonamassa - The Ballad of John Henry
Coldplay - X&Y
Kitaro - any of his albums really. Just absolutely amazing the atmosphere he creates.
Dido - No Angel
Bjork
Story of the Year - Black Swan
Frankmusik - Complete Me
Darren Hayes - Spin / This Delicate Thing We've Made

I have always enjoyed the production on Kaki King albums. I'm also a fan of the most recent John Scofield stuff too. A lesser known guy, Ronn McFarlane has an album of original lute music called Indigo Road that kicks ass in terms of production.

And Art of Noise's The Seduction of Claude Debussy album is the best produced electronic music album I ever heard
