EDIT 2: Here's the tone I ended up with for the project solo'd (mixed): https://dl.dropbox.com/u/2183128/KemperClip.mp3

EDIT: MORE CLIPS - these ones sound a bit more similar:

Both are 5150III sims. I like the sound of the Axe too but the KPA sounds better and more like the real amp to me. What do you think?

-----------------------------------------

Borrowed the Kemper for a couple days and whipped up a quick comparison. These aren't dialed to sound similar and this isn't anything scientific, I just tried to make good sounding patches to me on each unit and recorded the result. They could both be dialed better in hindsight, the Axe is a bit upper-middy and the Kemper a bit dark.

Fuck it though, good enough to get an idea of the character of each! I am really damn impressed with the KPA so far...

I think I prefer the KPA in this comparison. Even if it's not scientific, it was still nice to hear these.

You sound like a fucking dick! :):):)

Haha! I didn't really meant so sounds like one but with a mouth like this... :D

I took another listen and it must've been the synths that were making that weird sound I was hearing. I also prefer the KPA in this clip. Clearly has a better cabinet in the preset.

I think they are pretty much the same in this second comparison. Maybe the KPA is more direct sounding so basically has better attack to my taste... on the Axe-Fx simply tweak the SAG control for this effect.

Similar yes, but not the same to me! Maybe I'll post solo'd guitars

I think both sound awesome! Good work there Sacha!

Tx Ola!

really digging the tone on both new clips. they are indeed quite close. the kemper tone has more 'volume' to it, imo. i don't mean louder, but somehow less flat than the ax.

btw, did you use the built-in tubescreamer on the kemper?

Yeah I did, I didn't love what it did to the pick attack, but this particular profile was too loose / dark without it.

I think they both sound like sterile crap, if I'm honest.

Cool bro, so PM me for reamps?

I like the Axe-FX much better in the new clips. I can tell it's not as full as the Kemper, but it sounds better in that mix IMO, the Kemper sounds kinda muddy in the low mids to me.

Damn! I am digging that Kemper clip more then the Axe II. IT's almost like the Kemper is more smooth and the Axe is a little more harsh. Mid range of the Kemper seems pretty nice.

Eh Phil! I've got a better handle on the Kemper now too, I was just borrowing that one. Check out my newer clip somewhere in the RMM forum! Digging it.
