tell me this is a true single release

The pic won't load for me, but I've never heard of it and it's not on COB's homepage, so I doubt it. They made a video for it, so it makes sense, but I've never heard of an AYDY single.

Some journo suggested it back in '05. My opinion is it would make an awesome single, but the problem is simply the failed mixing work at the chorus mainly.. When a chorus is repeated 3 times during 4 minutes, it has to be good to make a single release.. Silenced synthesizers and crappy guitar tones. This chorus clearly has a problem because you can't really hear Roope's guitar melody that's buried under Alexi's gay half melodic vocals.

As for the synthesizer problem, it occurs with these songs:

Chokehold (chorus)
Trashed, Lost & Strungout (chorus)
Living Dead Beat (chorus)
Punch Me I Bleed (intro + chorus)
Banned from Heaven (intro + chorus)

Of course you could find a lot of things that are wrong. For example the guitar melody in Towards Dead End (album version) is so fucked up, and they should've used a different guitar tone in Lil' Bloodred Ridin' Hood. But you know how it goes, there's always these one or two songs that are given extra attention while the others sort of come along. It's possible there are songs that primarily set the soundscape that's applied to the entire album. For example Everytime I Die was the only track from FTR that remained untouched when the songs were re-mixed.

that's how you see it.
maybe they love that sound :p

You'll rarely if ever hear me say this but I agree with Joonas

The biggest problem with AYDY was the mixing

Aside from the fact that the album was inconsistent mixing-wise (it all sounded the same aside from that ONE FUCKING SONG Trashed, Lost, and Strungout), the mix in general is poor. The warm hissy mix, the thick-thick chugga-chugga guitar tone, the buried keyboards... production-wise it's crap. And this is coming from a black metal fan.

I've counted maybe 100 I agree with Joonas's after the poll "Do you agree with Joonas?" where I was crucified. :) All one has to do is actually read what I say and not go by the flow (most of times.)

+1

Not just the sounds, but really there's some horrible failures in the mixing in songs 1, 2 & 4. I could go into detail but I'm busy.

But shortly:

*Bad guitar tones and plastic keyboard tones.
*Not hearing Alexi's guitar in the Living Dead melody.
*The keyboard in the Living Dead chorus is so blast it should be mixed dominant.
*Not hearing Roope's guitar melody in the AYDY chorus - or the keyboard.
*Mikko KILLED Punch Me by burying Janne's keyboards for the intro (+ chorus). This, plus better guitar tones, and it would be AT LEAST as great as their other ballads.

1. true
2. not true. I can hear his guitar pretty good
3. true
4. also not true. Roopes guitar it's pretty good to hear. and you can't hear Jannes keys in the chorus because there aren't keys in the chorus.
5. well, I think the keys in PMIB shouldn't be louder. the chorus sounds pretty good with the louder guitars
