Band Recommendations...

yeah if we have viking metal, why not ninja metal? i never heard these guys. are they like Sigh at all? the concept also reminded me of a horrendous song by Europe - Ninja

There's tonne of bands around today with Seppuku in their title but the band I'm referring to I've only ever heard on a mix CD a mate made for me. I don't know how old they are but he said they were around in the 80's, imagine Opeth meets Rhapsody but with Japanese mythology in the lyrics. Weird but pretty fun.

but 98% of viking metal is horrible. so why should we continue to have horrible "themed bands" if people still cant get it right.

basically all viking themed stuff except for bathory (and i still don't like quorthon's vocals on these albums), enslaved and some windir is rubbish.
in ninja metal you don't wear corpsepaint like early enslaved, rather you wear the outfit that will stun all:

it's so grim

A Silver Mount Zion (GYBE! sideproject)
Explosions in the Sky
Mono
Oceansize

And you've probably already heard them, but if you like post-rock then Agalloch would be a good band to check out too since they have loads of post-rock influences.
