Band Wishes for PP4

this topic is brought up all the time and is like 2 pages old...sorry for bringing it back up again but....Didn't Nightwish's Year long Hiatus start like several months ago...So....why couldn't they show up to next years ProgPower??

I'm unsure how much of the suggestions Glenn takes in and how much it happens through the bands being available. I think he said once it is much easier to book groups that reside hear in the US for financial reasons. OTOH, I think he has stated he may move venues again so that may be a good sign for more financially demanding groups to get booked. I guess i look at some of the groups that have played ProgPower Europe like Suncaged and Star One would certainly be intriguing. Wolverine is another group many people talk about. The Gathering is 1 I am curious would still fit but would be a huge draw since they have a large int'l following. Also wonder if any of the Dt sideprojects like JellyJam or Mullmuzzler would be a possibility. Even Planet X.

StarOne would be too damned cool. If Glenn could get any of Lucassen's project's, that would be cool.

I think I mentioned Antithesis before!

Sinergy would still be cool, even though Mel would not be on bass. Maybe, The Iron Maidens could play a pre-party show and then maybe, I could see Mel perform, if she is back in the band.

Okay, whatever Jorn Lande is doing at the time. However, if you follow Yngwie's (paraphrased) opinion, Jorn is not all that and a bag of chips.

In addition, DragonForce - they are a cool, relatively new band.

Since I'm going next year, there's no reason why Kamelot can't come back. They're my favorite "prog" group by far. Nocturnal Rites. I've said it before and I will say it again, Nocturnal Rites will tear the venue down! There, now you've got prgo AND power, make it happen.

What about Shadow Gallery? They are a pretty darn good band. However I heard that they have never played their music live before because they don't have the skillz to pull it off live. I also heard that the reason might simply be because they all have day jobs and it wouldn't be profitable at all. Great band though.

Ok, here goes my shot at it ...

Quiet Room
Sonata Arctica
Ivory Tower
Eldritch
Royal Hunt, Artension... or heck, just John West

Last Tribe
Lemur Voice
Wolverine
At Vance
Evergrey

How's that?

:worship:

the full explanation may never be known. But financially it has never been viable I guess..possibly due to their contract with Magna Carta which just ended I understand.

Shadow Gallery were invited to play at NEARfest 2000 which took place in Bethelhelm,PA nearby where they live, but they declined.

My ultimate choice for PPIV would be as follows--
Night 1-
Nightwish
Rage
Raphsody
Helloween
Grave Digger

Night 2
Primal Fear
Iced Earth
Symphony X
Running Wild
Stratovarius

Hows about Enchant? They are (yet another) great band. I actually just discovered them myself but love what I am hearing. I could definately see them playing a future progpower.

Nightwish will have two last shows for their "Century Child" -World Tour in Germany: 11.01.2003 in Oberhausen (König-Pilsener-Arena) and 12.01.2003 in Munich (Colosseum). After these shows the next possible shows will be festival shows in summer / autumn 2003.

That is from Nightwish's Official Webpage. See?! I TOLD you they would be able to do PPIV! If we can convince them to come all the way over here that is....

I could never get into Voivod

Give Dimension Hatross a spin. It's an incredible release. Also their cover of Astronomy Domine (Pink FLoyd) was incredible as was the video they did for it.

My picks for NEXT YEAR

Day 1:

Katagory V
Therion
Sonata Arctica
Iced Earth
Vanden Plas

Day 2:

All To Human
Brainstorm or Dream Evil
Tiles
Rhapsody
Stratovarius

I cannot believe nobody has mentioned...

PAGANS MIND!!!!

Have you not heard the new CD Celestial Entrance?!?

Prog/Power Metal CD of the year! Right next to The Odyssey!

All Too Human is another great choice not mentioned.
