Bands that have never changed lineup?

I thought they were good. Better than most of the tripe getting pushed these days. The albums weren't all that great, but they each had a bunch of really good songs on them.

I adore Audioslave's first album. To be serious I love it more than anything by Soundgarden and maybe even Rage Against The Machine. And I like both of those bands. Say whatever you want, but there is some stuff on that debut album that is just murderously good. I think Audioslave mainly gets panned because they were born hasbeens, they couldn't have a 'legitimate' part in music because their former bands had already scorched the Earth. But have Audioslave be a side-project in 1991 and I don't think it would get 1/4th as much hate. They'd be revered like Mad Season or Temple of the Dog.

I was really looking forward to Audioslave being great, my hopes were really high considering the talent in the band. I didn't look at them as has-beens at all. I certainly wasn't expecting utterly bland fm-rock.

Well you said it right there. You're expectations were effing astronomical. Correct me if I'm wrong but you couldn't possibly have had such high expectations the first time you heard Rage or Soundgarden. Even if you expected them to be amazing, with Audioslave you already know EXACTLY what you WANT, so no matter how it deviates from that, it loses. In my humble opinion, Audisolave is just a u-turn direction for the artists as far as sound goes, and I'd equate it to Mad Season since I never in a million years expected that album to be so extremely low-key, soft and classic rock-ish. Just my 2 cents though.

My expectations were that they wouldn't suck. I don't think that that's an astronomical expectation at all.
