Bands you would love to see at Heathen Crusade

I never had mead before...

The best I've had was homebrewed. I made some myself once, very tasty - although it takes a lot of patience as mead takes quite some time to ferment.

There are some good commercial meads, but they can be hard to find depending on where you're located. There's a nice wine/liquor store I checked out at the first Heathen Crusade that probably carries some, I think it was Cellars Wine and Spirits. They had a great beer selection too.

For all of you who have not been to HC before, I highly suggest picking up your alcohol laced libations early in the day. If you wait til the wee hours of the night, you'll be hard pressed to find a store that will sell you the tonic of the Gods, or even worst, be stuck in a compromising situation amongst St Paulie prehensile tailed townies wielding concealed weapons.

I wonder how this tastes, having brown sugar and all in it. The first mead I made was a traditional mead; just honey, water, and yeast. I let it ferment for 6 months, but it could've gone longer.

For all those interested, here are Wiki links to mead - its history, varieties, and brewing:

You know what would be fun? If HC had a "mead-off." A sort of contest to see who can brew the best mead.

Arrrrr.

Given the awesomeness of the previous years' parties in the hotels, I'm positive we'll all be passing around mead at some point in one of the rooms.

In a Viking horn, with any luck. Gotta go for as authentic as we can while in a hotel room :p
