for one I would love to see any of these bands

- Acid Witch
- Omen
- Heathen (they had people going nuts at the Destruction show)
- Twisted Tower Dire
- Amulance
- Oct 31st
- Merciless Death
- Overkill
- Hallows Eve
- Iron Cross (FL)

who else would be cool to see at an eventual Powerfest?

I wuld love to see the focus stay on US bands right now to keep it cheaper for the promoters....not saying a band like Overkill is cheap but I think with VISA's, international flights, and other cost it would be better to keep it from getting to elaborate right off the bat.

I could go on forever......

HELL (UK)
DoomSword
Wolf
Manilla Road
Ghost
Electric Wizard

I will come up with a zillion more eventually.

What a shock. Jason put Manilla Road. I so would love to see Wolf and Ghost, though obviously if this was US based those wouldn't work.

As for me I would love to see:

Voivod
Jag Panzer
Operatika
Believer
Armored Saint
Neurosis

the fest isnt US based only....I was just putting it out there to save on the money side and risk of VISA issues. I think bands like Ghost, Portrait, and Grand Magus would be big draws and bring all sorts of metal fans from all over to the fest.

Oh I know. But if that were to be the case for the initial comeback of the fest, that's what I would choose.

You'd have no complaints from me in terms of those other bands, well at least Ghost and Grand Magus. Portrait I'm not familiar with.

As for non-US bands I would also include:

Wolf
Coroner
Hell
Sodom
Draconian
My Dying Bride

I would love Ghost and Grand Magus... And Dream Evil...

Personally I would love to see a return from doomsters Solitude Aeturnus... Or any good band from the doom scene, like Candlemass or Electric Wizard.

Realistically? Maybe a showing from Jag Panzer, with their new album out and all that.

Oh, and definitely Armored Saint. They never make it out of the coasts it seems, and they have a newish album out.

I would fully support Jag Panzer.
I actually think that is the perfect headlining band to help Chicago Powerfest get back on the map.

1) They are from the US, so no visa issues.
2) Per #1, should not be TOO costly (Though I don't know their guarantee)
3) They haven't toured the US since 2003!
4) New album is VERY solid

I would fully support many other mentions here. Lots of diversity...

Rycher...Radakka reunion? Seriously????
At least you didn't say Sphynx!!!!: :)

I would love a Squadron reunion.

Actually, what might be more realistic, and equally killer, would be a Laceration reunion.

Well, based on Bob's keeing it US criteria to help get things going, they would be a perfect fit, no???

Don't worry, you can catch up on their discography whenever Glen books them. :hahamiddlefinger:

hahahah zing.

Manilla Road would not be a draw at all. As the Kansas City fest a few years back and Alehorn Fest.....we know thier drawing power....sure they were influencial but they would bring out like 20 people I think.

while not a fan....this would be a decent draw for out of towners I think. Jag Panzer that is.

Yes, but interest in the band has grown quite a bit over the past 5 years I would say. I mean, compare Manilla Road to your original list, if we are going based solely on how that band would draw alone.

Furthermore dude, when has a festival been about just ONE band????

Bands like Omen, Panzer, Manilla Road, etc have never been solid draws, which is why they have been festival bands for the past 15 years or so.

US only:

Solitude Aeturnus
Pentagram
Helstar
Warrel Dane's solo band
perhaps try to reunite Dark Angel again
Neurosis
Pale Divine
Earthen Grave
Goddamn Zombie works for cheap, I hear. ;)

My vision for one of the nights:
My Dying Bride
Anathema
Paradise Lost
Novembers Doom

Helstar is another one that would work very well I think.

That night would be absolutely killer; however, I don't think Anathema fits that lineup anymore.
