Even an octave pitchshifted guitar sounds better than current bass simulations. Just remember to play it like you would play a bass.

If you're talking about bass simulators that are synth based, then yes...they will never carry the same tonality as a real bass guitar. As for bass sample libraries, they're incredibly realistic these days (DB2 is a prime example) and you cannot tell the difference between it and a traditionally performed bass guitar. I can't say the bass sample library I use is fake because essentially, it is real...just intelligently recorded and mapped to an alternative instrument.

EVM Bassline is currently the one I use, plugged into an amp sim/eq/comp. I tune drop Bb and this one goes that low, I tried the Kontakt one and it's a little better but it stops at the low B. D'oh! EVM Bassline isn't bad at all for what it is.

thanks for the info man, this one sounds really cool! and compared to those sampled bass-wannabe's, really does it's job
