Because OSAers like signing petitions!

Hey everyone.

I can't remember if this news was posted at the old forum before it crashed or if it ended up here.

Anyway, a while back there was a post on Nightwish forum saying that the band had recorded a cover of the Michael Nyman song "The Heart Asks Pleasure First". Tuomas even went so far as to interpret the song in his own way by writing lyrics to it. However, Nyman has denied Nightwish the right to cover it, and so the recorded product lays dormant somewhere in a Finnish studio, with no rabid Nightwish fans to hear it. :(

This is where you come in.

The post was revived recently after a long lull. Apparently someone has started up an online petition, and you can get in on it. Click on the link below to get started. I've already done it...now it's your turn!

This is a great way for OSA and Nightwish fans around the world to make their voices heard. Get to petitioning!

I don't believe petitions work worth a damn either. In fact i think they are something of a joke. But hey this one is for Nightwish, so there's no harm in putting my name to it. :] (which i just did)

*nodnod* I've adored that song for about 10 years now, and i was delighted when Tuomas played a short bit of it at the end of a nightwish song during the philly performance! *sign*

I wonder if Nightwish could "leak" this somehow and not get in legal trouble.

Yeah, that has been the bulk of discussion on that particular thread at Nightwish forum, wondering if there is a way we as fans can hear the song without Nyman suing for copyright infringement. I would think that if it is allowed to cover songs at live shows without permission, that will be the only way to hear it. But even then, it couldn't end up on any official recording or anything like that because I'm sure the copyright laws apply there.

But, if the band is allowed to perform it at live shows without consent...that's what things like YouTube and bootlegging---the backbone of this country---was meant for!

And, like I said at Nightwish forum, Nyman will probably resist giving Nightwish the rights even more now that there are crazy fans clamoring for a petition, but what the hell, I signed anyway.

god knows all the full albums get leaked nowadays months in advance, why not one itsy bitsy lil song *winkwink*
