Behringer Truth.

Now, I'm not the kind of guy to be the first one to jump in bashing a product someone else is using, and I have nothing against the brand (I do use some of their stuff every now and then and some of their products are pretty nice for the price), but I absolutely hate the Behringer 2031's. I've fiddled around with them quite a bit, since my previous school had them. The listening environment was decent and I took time to adjust them, but still found them pretty much waste of the money. The low-end is boomy as hell and very untight, and the upper range has a nasty, harsh peak which I found way too fatiguing for my ears. I considered getting a pair, but had to give up hope on them and blindly order a pair of smaller Event ALP5's. I'm fucking glad I did, for the size and price they're pretty incredible and translate a lot better :) I don't mean to bash anyone with this, it might be just my ears, and different stuff work for different people, but that's just how they sound to me.

I wouldn't have a problem with waiting, but my band would. We are pretty anxious to get a demo recorded so I really want to pull some gear together kind of quick. Anyway, whenever I get my decent monitors, i'll probably want to keep the ones I buy now for A/Bing and that...

Tell your ass-faced band to help you buy the shit to record...

I originally started getting into recording for the same reason, but had to buy everything myself...

Tell them to either help you buy the stuff to do it or tell them to pitch in for studio time... at least them pitching in to buy stuff will reward you next time you go to record... you'll still have it.

I'm getting some M-audio BX 8a's this weekend, after checking them out and liking them better than my Event PS8s. I'll post my thoughts on these after I spend some time with them.

well I hooked up my 2031a's today.....and WOW. Sound's great!!! Well, when your coming from Logitech computer speakers, I'm sure any studio monitor sounds great.:Smug:

Anyways, I'm very happy with them right now. I can hear soooo much more articulation.:kickass: I think I will probably get a Behringer or M-audio sub though. I kinda miss that low end that my computer speakers and sub had.:erk:

And i'm not sure what I'm gonna do about controling the volume.....as my Firepods are in my tracking room and I just have a long firewire going from there into my control room.

Yeah, but I don't think there are any with knobs. Just buttons, and they don't always work depending on what sort of applications you use. Sometimes they don't work when you are watching a movie in full screen, or playing a game.

Unfortunately the Firepod hasn't got a mixer application of it's own AFAIK :/ BTW, why aren't your Firepods in the control room? That sounds a little inconvinient, and I've been told that long firewire runs aren't a good thing. Don't know if it's bollocks, but that's what they keep saying :)

Well, a single cable can only be 4,5 meters, but with active repeaters you can use up to 16 cables in a daisy chain, allowing you 72 meters of Firewire fun and games

Oh and FW800 has capability for up to 100 meters without repeaters, though I don't think it's implemented yet.
