Is it just me or... is there absolutely nothing special about these lyrics? Maybe it lost something in translation
It's not that special simply going by the lyrics, allthough the original (is it danish or norweigan? or did I just dream it was in danish?) has a neat little rhyme, for me it's more the way and the place within the song that it's sung which makes it stunning.

What the hell was I thinking when I picked Autumn Aurora over Bergtatt? I love AA but Bergtatt murders it six ways to sunday, and is definitely one of my all time favourite albums now.

I just spun both, literally 10 seconds in to I Troldskog Faren Vild and my mind was made on which was the superior album. Frankly, Autumn Aurora isn't anything to write back to Kansas about. It's good enough, but far from being essential.

Bergtatt is one of the first black metal albums I ever owned and one of the first I ever really loved. It is just sooo fucking good.

edit: Can anyone verify this translation? This is off M-A, but I have seen alternate English song titles.

Chapter I : Lost in a Forest of Trolls

They awaited the girl/maid’s return [home]
[But] she was lost in the dark forest
The snow had fallen like a blanket as far as the eye could see

On the road home
Her only freind..
If she only could
Follow the road of the stars

But she was lost
Among the dark trees
The Forest's dark arms embraced it self over the unknown guest
Reminded her of her biggest fright
That the mountain king thrists for christian blood

Those underneath/underground:
"Somone closes silently
A sorrowfull girl
She is sitting there with folded hands
She is sending a prayer to the heavenly realm"

Over her head
It’s dripping from a branch
Drop, by drop like the blood
[Of the body] from Jesus christ

The girl:
“Aa, alone in a scary forest
I feel that tonight
Tonight no one thinks of me”

Chapter II : The Sun goes down Behind the Hills

Slowly she turns her head half ways
Listening, for words spoken from distance
A place under the ground, the heart's woe

The girl:
“The sun goes down behind the hill
The shadows grow longer
Night will soon return
Capturing me”

She sheds a tear at her missing
A longing home with her own
She wanted to embrace them so
Sorrow rooted in unspeakable pain

She cries
She fades
She looks not at the night’s path

She falls to sleep on a bed of moss
And everything becomes quit
And then darkness falls
On her dream's path

Chapter III : She Noticed she was being Watched

From far away she’s being watched
Eyes, many eyes of gray watches her
While the moon slowly glides

The girl:
“I sense cold eyes
Whatever I do – I must be quick
Before sorcery takes me with force”

Eyes still behold her
Looking curiously from afar

Norwegian night ices
When the sound of howling wolves beckons
Thunder rolls
(Her anxiety blazes)

The world is snow
- Quiet
Alone she breathes
Heart beats
Her blood turns to ice

Those underground:
“The source of sorrow rests
On the thorn dressed trees
She is as beautiful as a virtue
Hendes Drøm Solspell indvier*

On those white cheeks
On that mouth that no longer smiles
Tears flows in rivers
When the world sleeps

*untranslatable

Chapter IV : A Voice is Calling

She wakes on shadowed trails
In the forest’s deep green chambers
Then a voice whispers anew
Behind leafhidden trees

The voice:
“Come, if you want! Come into the dark!
Mine black eyes shall find you!
My soft hair will tie you!”
(Said sucking, enchanting words)

The girl:
“O sweet voice, why do thee wake
My seceret sorrow now
In this silent mound?”

The voice:
“Girl, what do you expected to find here?
Follow me down this hill...
Where else can you find the memory
Of happineness, of home?"

The girl:
“I don’t understand – I feel so weird...
...tell me, do I have to? Do I have to?”

Chapter V : Into the Chambers of the Mountain

The girl prayed for her [life]
It must not happen to her
And with that a new girl they took
Treated her as they wanted too
And not as they should

There, the house of shadows she saw...
..Soo cold and eternal blue

The mountain took her in
Too it’s hard gray cheek
Again the black night regined
And now she is gone...

She screams with her last breath
An epic we will never forget
- A body turned to stone

...the moon is gone
Also the stars have gone out

Ooh! It rains and blows [hard]
Far into the north, in the mountain
Under the ground
There they play...

To Evil?

The Trilogie-boxset has the lyrics translated on the booklet and they're a bit different from what you posted, but as much as I can understand the language, some parts were not translated for some reason.
