I need to buy Powerslave some day, it's the only Maiden I like. Also I need to revisit my CD-R copy of HEart of the Ages a different some day because I think I might enjoy that, given the proper exposure.

Immortal and Dickinson can suck it.

Own these (8):

2 Agalloch "Pale Folklore"
5 Katatonia "Brave Murder Day"
6 Dissection "Storm of the Light's Bane"
8 Megadeth "Rust in Peace"
13 Empyrium "Songs of Moors and Misty Fields
14 In the Woods... "HEart of the Ages
15 Bruce Dickinson "The Chemical Wedding
16 Ulver "Bergtatt

Familiar with these, in decreasing order of familiarity:

3 Iron Maiden "Powerslave"
7 Drudkh "Autumn Aurora"
4 Metallica "Ride the Lightning"
18 Immortal "Pure Holocaust
17 Emperor "In the Nightside Eclipse
9 Mayhem "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas"
12 Slayer "Reign in Blood
10 Darkthrone "Transilvanian Hunger"

Never heard a note:

1 Burzum "Hvis Lyset Tar Oss"
11 Bathory "Blood Fire Death"
19 Hate Forest "Battlefields
20 Sepultura "Beneath the Remains

By the way, of those albums, the ones I've purchased because of RC would be:

2 Agalloch "Pale Folklore"
5 Katatonia "Brave Murder Day"
7 Drudkh "Autumn Aurora"
13 Empyrium "Songs of Moors and Misty Fields
14 In the Woods... "HEart of the Ages
16 Ulver "Bergtatt
19 Hate Forest "Battlefields

Yeah, it's pretty weird that I've never (consciously) heard any Burzum, especially since it probably has some sort of influence/connection to 6 of the 8 albums from this list that I do own. I'm dumb.

While simplistic, the song "Det Som Engang Var" (not to be confused with the separate album with the same title) off of Hvis Lyset Tar Oss is one of the greatest songs I've ever heard. At the very least, check that one out if you can. A crushing and primal journey.
