i know theres been threads like this in the past...but these are some of my personal favorites, and i was curious what everyone thought about these...please dont post asking where "this or that" band is on here...i just put some of my favs and ones i thought were generally popular and the most musically significant...

Mayhem :headbang:

Probably the best exponent of Black metal was Emperor, but they've split, and really the only album of theirs I love is Anthems. Ulver are fantastic, but not really black metal any more (only 2 black albums in a total of 8 releases, too). Borkie is great too, of course, but I don't really think of them as black metal. Well, I do, but I don't, if you know what I mean :loco:

I voted for Ulver, as I really like their middle pieces of music. I know that they did not really play black metal then, but they was on the list:) And I like their first pieces too, but I really dislike their newer works.

And well, I can not really see Borknagar as a black metal band either. I mean, they don't really fit in in any genre in my opinion, they should have an own one:)

something tells me had i put those on the list...youd probably be the only one voting on them...not to mention you could only vote for one of the three anyway.

you put on the list crap like graveland or Mayhem, non-black act like Borkie or Ulver, so where's problem?

darkthrone.. cause theyre still doing the same great thing as always. Darkthrone"!"!#¤
emperor is on a fine second place though

To be perfectly honest, i put borknagar on the list because i really love their first album, which i would consider black metal in a lot of ways...if you think i meant recent albums, then i could understand your idea...but i also thought that since this is the borknagar forum, it was only fair...as for graveland and mayhem...dont tell me how theyre crap...because that is just silly. new mayhem i didnt like...but de mysteriis' impact on the scene doesn't need to be said i dont think....i would think its understood. and graveland is one of the best non-norwegian bands in the scene. As for ulver...yes, they are no longer black metal...but if you had any common sense, you would realize i was referring to their black metal material in the past...to be honest, bergtatt is still one of the darkest, and best black metal albums to date...i have yet to see too many bands make a better album. and if you have any further problems, refer to my post that said "dont tell me where this or that band is on the poll...because i only put some of my favorites." take your self proclaimed elitism elsewhere...for enochian crescent and dornenreich arent anything special either as far as im concerned.

Mayhem - i agree, "DMDS" was great album, but one album and a thousand weak live album don't make from Mayhem great band...

Ulver - "Bergtatt" isn't black metal album. "Nattens Madrigal" is one of three the best bm albums:D but there is again one bm album

Graveland - hmmm... i live in Wroclaw, so a many years ago i was their friend. i know their well and i reflect why Americans worship this fucking liars, thieves and posers?
