Hypocrisy is my favorite band, and pretty much the only melodic death metal band I like. Most melodic death metal I find bland, boring , and lame. Things like Dark Tranquillity and In Flames just don't do it for me. However Hypocrisy are very different to me. They were the ones that got me into death metal.

Hey I can sympathize with that. Abducted was pretty much my ticket into heavier death metal. The third DM album I ever "bought"(actually I got it free of charge after filling a ten purchases quota at a local metal store). I remember getting it in an ugly digipak without a lyrics sheet but it did not matter. I held in my hand a disk with over an hour worth of asskicking critically acclaimed death metal (with two pop songs at its tail If I recall correctly:p ) And I got it for free! What more could I ask?
At first I thought Abducted was really fucking good but after months of enjoyment it eroded into mediocrity, turning into 60+ minutes of excruciating boredom. Reason: I've discovered more interesting bands and albums. Hypocrisy's pre-Abducted stuff is somewhat better but also pretty unexciting. Lacks staying power, imo.

You should definitely check out that Necrophobic album, cookiecutter. It has everything you're looking for in melodic death and it ages REALLY well.

Who are you and why are you bagging the Greys
Alter of Madness > Blessed are the sick, so what would you have blessed on the list

I have nothing against Altars Of Madness but it is in no way superior to its successor, not to mention that it was not a 90s release.

Who am I? God.

Hmm it has yet to decay for me, even though I have moved on to mainly death and brutal death metal. I've heard a lot about this Necrophobic album, I'll be sure to check it out.

fine. now continue jacking off to Slaughter Of The Soul until you're chaffing.

Jacking off too cds is the cool thing to do (not sure where you've been).

Slaughter of the Soul is one of the most despicable, disappointing pieces of trash ever put to CD and virtually every one of the At the Gates fans on this board will hopefully agree with me.
