Well, what are yours? I could do with some inspiration, maybe someone will dig out a true gem. I like bands similar to Xasthur but anything will do.

Peste Noire - La Sanie des siècles - Panégyrique de la dégénérescence

Merrimack - Of Entropy and Life Denial

Keep of Kalessin - Armada

Wolves in the Throne Room - Diadem of 12 Stars

Drudkh - Blood in Our Wells

Summoning - Oath Bound

Negură Bunget - OM

Ruun is a tough one. I personally don't think it contains enough 'black metal' in its sound to be considered a black metal album. Then again, it comes down to personal preference and how we each define the term 'black metal'.

Mine are:

Burial Hordes - War, Revenge and Total Annihilation
Gorgoroth - Ad Majorem Sathanas Gloriam
Jotunspor - Gleipnirs Smeder
Merrimack - Of Entropy And Life Denial
Zarathustra - In Hora Mortis

uhh...I have way too many to mention, so here are some of my favourites:

Top 5:
Dornenreich - Durch Den Traum (black metal related)
Wedard - Einsamer Winterweg
Anti - The Insignificance of Life
Bishop of Hexen - The Nightmarish Compositions
The Ruins of Beverast - Rain Upon the Impure
also...
Negurã Bunget - Om
Sombre Chemin - Notre Héritage Ancestral
Peste Noire - La Sanie des Siècles - Panégyrique...
Stielas Storhett - Vandrer...

Other excellent/outstanding albums:
Epheles - Souviens-Toi
Sarkom - Aggravation of Mind
Secrets of the Moon - Antithesis
Keep of Kalessin - Armada
Antaeus - Blood Libels
Anaal Nathrakh - Eschaton
Gorgoroth - Ad Majorem Sathanas Gloriam
Enslaved - Ruun
Dark Fortress - Séance
Sterbend - Dwelling Lifeless
Koldbrann - Moribund

...so those imo are the best...of course though I have left out a lot of good ones (some that you guys have mentioned) but many of those I wouldn't include. Overall, I think it was a brilliant year for black metal especially.

Well Ruun is post-black metal, and Satyricon is now, so if post-black like Enslaved and Satyricon can go on the list, then I'd nominate Satyricon-Now, Diabolical.

Sure, why not. Both have roots in black metal. You can make a case against many bands for not being completely one-dimensional black metal. Negurã Bunget, The Ruins of Beverast, Keep of Kalessin, Anaal Nathrakh are generally known as black metal but but you can see how they have more than one influence in their music, and don't approach the genre through typical means.

Current period Enslaved is definitely not post-black. If anyone is post-black, it's Agalloch.

I think Enslaved is more of a progressive band now, with black metal roots....but how is Agalloch post-black metal though? I don't see them at all a black metal band.

Agalloch isn't even remotely Black Metal. Enslaved isn't either, but they at least started from a Black Metal base and have traces that remain.
