Wow, I'd expact bashing of bands like Metallica and Opeth but Emperor hate? Seriously? You guys have nothing better to do?

You like some pretty ridiculously fucking gay bands so your Emperor hate is a little less justified.

In the Nightside Eclipse is in fact a very good album. It just completely pales in comparison to so much else that was going on at the time and is just massively overrated. And Emperor really was made fun of by the other bands. They began the moving away from the traditional path of black metal.

I like In The Nightside Eclipse (especially "I Am the Black Wizards"), but I don't really care for anything Emperor did after that.

I'm quite frankly baffled to see that Burzum wasn't a landslide victory.

which would've been fine if their destination wasn't tasteless experimental wanking.

Indeed, I was merely citing that as the point of criticism hailed at the band by their elder peers (particularly Darkthrone).

Yes because we're not allowed to not like influential bands and we're only doing it to troll

Idk, it's just annoying how everything has to be bashed left and right here. You have mainstream bullshit everyone hates, more obscure things that get labeled "hipster bullshit" once people start liking them, and now everyone in the middle is gay.

This is pretty much my feeling. I don't really like where Emperor was going with that album (or went afterwards) but it's hard to argue that ITNE is bad because it was executed well and was influential. That said I just can't believe people are choosing it over HLTO or DMDS which are masterpieces.

Well, for you people baffled at how Emperor is winning, you do have to realize that there's only one choice up there for those that enjoy that style of music, whereas there's a lot of competition for standard old school black metal. If this was a poll between Burzum/Mayhem/Darkthrone style and symphonic black metal it's quite obvious the former would win by a landslide, so stop calling shit gay and start being pompous cuz you won the poll or w/e.
