Nobody mentioned Points North - The Road Less Travelled. No exactly metal, but great guitar oriented instrumental rock. The CD features Damien Sisson on bass (currently in Death Angel) but he was replaced by Uriah Duffy (previously of Whitesnake) is on this video.

But THE MYSTERY-Apocalypse 666 was a damn fine debut album as well
