Steve Flynn of Atheist, I just can't get enough of his drumming, a perfect mix between jazz and death metal drumming.

Out of those four it would have to be Gene Hoglan for sure.i can't believe no one has put drummers like Ray from Fear Factory,Igor Cavelera,Paul Bostoph(even his work with Forbidden was awesome),also can anyone tell me if the double bass in Iced Earths song Wolf is real or machine??

Lombardo for sentimental reasons. Along with Nicko McBrain, he was the reason I became a drummer 110 years ago.

Mastadon's drummer (I forget the name) is awesome. Tricky rhythms and bone-shaking sound for such a comparatively rock-oriented metal act.

Shame that Kevin Talley from Fetus is no longer playing metal. Phenomenal talent.

I love Dream Theater, but Portnoy is just too consistently showy for my tastes. I think he's all too aware of how great he is.

Longstreth from Origin is amazing, but (like Raymond Herrera) is also triggered to hell live, which annoys me for some reason.

He just quit about a month ago. He's playing in an 80s-style rock band called Grayson Manor. To each his own, I guess.
