I can vouch for W1. Only free limiter I've used that actually limits.

+1 to The Rocket. It is an 1176 clone with a few extra features like parallel compression. Well worth a look M8.

i also forgot to mention that ALL of the massey plugins are free if you use pro tools.

(the trials are fully functional with no expiration or audio dropouts) the only caveat is that you can't save the presets.


*imo, massey makes some of the best plugins on the market.

For a cheap(ish) paid compressor - look at FabFilter Pro-C.

I haven't tried them yet since they're windows vst only. If I remember the youtube videos correctly these plugins sound pretty close to the uad emulations.
