Best Opeth song growl-wise?

I gotta say, I love the growls at the end of TNATSW, just something about that rhythm, it like builds tension because you expect it to go on instead of continuing in that choppy style.

Are you talking about the live version? The album version has whispering at the end.

For me: I'd say BWP, SPD, Wreath, MA, HA... to name a few.:p

Ghost Of Perdition maybe.

But Mike's best growl is on Ayreon's "The Human Equation"

YOU WORTHLESS FOOL, YOU LET HER DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEERGH!!!!

Nope. Check out Ihsahn's 'Unhealer'

"YOUR PEACE IS NOT MY PEACE" (1:50 onwards)

I like the growling in Master's Apprentices. But I love the growling in Heir Apparent.

LONG DAYS!
SLOW WASTE!
SEW LIES!
SOW HATE!

But Blackwater Park is amazing.

Yeah either BWP (The "Lepers coiled neath the TRREEEESSSS" part is so awesome) or The Funeral Portrait (Assembly to the MEEEEEEEKKKK).

APRIL ETHEREAL. PERIOD.

2nd, definately Serenity Painted Death.

Then Heir Apparent.

Then Blackwater Park.

Baying of the Hounds is definately an honorable mention as well.

Wreath, as well. Why is this song so underrated I'll never understand.

I love the vocals in Baying of the Hounds alot especially in the beginning where he says " diabolical beasts, roaming the forest..." that part sounds so freaking evil. What do you guys think about that part ?

I agree with the thread-starter. 'Karma' is my all-time favorite Opeth song, anyway. I'd add 'Blackwater Park', 'The Funeral Portrait', 'April Ethereal', and 'In Mist She Was Standing' to the list, too. 'Serenity Painted Death' has some awesome growls, too, especially the way he says, 'Took controLLLLLLL....' I love when he does those really intense growls behind his L's.

Ghost of Perdition - "Keeper of holy hordes... Keeper of holy WHORES"

Master's Apprentices - No comment necessary.

Also have to mention Bloodbath - Weak Aside...this song is pure perfection in all ways, including the vocals!

Now that I think of it I'll stick to my original list, but I find myself in agreement with the folks who listed April Ethereal. Not just for the growlies in that song, but it was almost like a new door to opeth opening; it being the first song on MAYH. What a change from the first 2 albums!!

So, I'll add April Ethereal to my list as well. Good call, Peeps!
