Best Opeth song growl-wise?

i always liked the initial roar of The Moor after such a phantasmal guitar medley. The part from Serenity Painted Death when Mikael goes totally apeshit "Each and everyone would die at my hand - Choking in warm ponds of blood. At last, weak and torn, I went down. Drained from strength, lingering breath. "

The Grand Conjuration, Deliverance, The Leper Affinity, Baying Of The Hounds, Beneath The Mire.

You can't have a good growl track in Opeth without there being an even cooler clean part.

Mikael, Thou Art God.

Maybe I'm the only one to miss-hear it...

'Best made taco's of the earth!!'

But really:
'Pest ridden jackals of the earth'

I ALWAYS hear "tacos" when I hear The Baying of the Hounds. Kinda ruins the moment for me. Good to finally know the real lyrics!

I really like the way he growls on Still Life. For example, listen to the way he says TUUUURN around 4:14 on The Moor. It's the way he ends the word. He does that a lot in Still Life and actually I think a bit on Watershed too.

Blackwater Park, Heir Apparent, Wreath, The Leper Affinity, even Master's Apprentices maybe, Ghost of Perdition, Demon of the Fall, Karma IMO, the growls on Serenity Painted Death have a really cool effect on them that fits perfectly for the song and for the album in general.

The sigh of summer upon my return
Fifteen alike since I was here
Bathed in deep fog, blurring my trail
Snuffing the first morning rays

Overall: The Funeral Portrait, Serenity Painted Death, Harlequin Forest, The Moor

I love the fast growling in the first parts of The Lotus Eater and the middle of The Grand Conjuration. Also Demon of the Fall is awesome in studio (meh at live, imo) since he somehow managed to sound like the fucking devil in the recording.

Master's Apprentices is a good song but I consider the growls a little overrated, they're too slow and drawn out for my tastes in the verses, I like the other parts though, and the guitars are of course badass.

Edit: Bah, how could I forget, the first growls to Beneath the Mire, and I <3 that "In liquid cellophane, gasping for air" and "From love to death, in a timespan of seconds" from Deliverance.

I know you guys don't like this song....but one of the most pure evil things I've heard ever is:

"THEEEEEEEEE GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAND COOOOOOOOOOOON - JUUUUUUUUUUU - RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA - TIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

So fucking evil.

The Grand Conjuration was actually my FIRST favorite song by Opeth I had. What i also love about that part, is if you listen to the guitar, he is just DANCING ON IT!!!! GOORRRGEEEOOUSSS!! Can't help but to just headband to it!:kickass::rock::kickass::notworthy

Can't wait for my best friend to start talking about that part to me :-D

I think the second part of Hessian peel, and some of Ghost Reveries stuff ! actually,Mike's growling are getting better from album to another, listen to Orchid and then to Watershed and you'll notice to difference, doesn't mean that Orchid or any earlier record growlings are bad but now are better i think

Watershed is my favorite album, so I'm not knocking anything here, but the growls on it seem less brutal than on any of the other albums. They don't sound as raw or as up front; even the one grunt we got on "Hessian Peel" felt a bit weak.

My favorite growls would probably be "deafening shrieks pierce the niiiiight" with the grunt coming in right at the end.
