Best orchestral metal production?

I can't believe noones mentioned Dragonland.

That's one of their more epic orchestral ones but they have awesome orchestration on all their songs and it's some of the best orchestral metal productions i've heard. Their last album was a Fredman production but their new album out in november was produced by Jacob Hansen which i'm really looking forward to.

Also Aquaria:

I absolutely love what Devin Townsend did with the Deconstruction album. Wonderfully done.

Best Cradle of Filth album and one of my favorite albums ever. The production is perfect and the orchestra is mind-blowing, used in a good way unlike the Dimmu one that came out round the same time, too bombastic and overpowering, this cof album on the other has beautiful parts, incredibly dark parts and parts that are just pure metal. Not to mention going through the album with the booklet in hand following the lyrics is an experience in itself.

plus fucking 1 :kickass:

That was one of the first proper extreme metal albums I got into, and still my favourite Cradle record, with Midian in a close second.

I can't believe no one mentioned Hollenthon. I am disappoint

In my opinion that's the best orchestral death metal together with Septic Flesh.

One of my favorites is Epica "Design Your Universe" - I found the whole album to be quite epic (no pun intended). While not the best example from this disc, "Unleashed" happens to be the song from the disc that they made a video of.

BTW, Nightwish "Once" is MUCH better sounding than "Dark Passion Play". Less compression, more dynamic, more open and transparent sounding. "Once" is perhaps the pinnacle of modern metal/orchestra production/mixing.
