Best Prog Death Metal Band

I'm not insulting you to prove any point. I'm insulting you because you're a dumbass, and I felt like insulting you. People in the real world insult other people too! I also wish I could discuss in a serious manner, however, since you can't express what you feel with proper words, I guess that won't happen unless I somehow find a way to decode your diarhea vocabulary.

Let's keep it simple shall we? Do you believe or not that Opeth is superior to the other bands within the progressive death metal genre?

If he says yes, he's wrong. Opeth are very good, but they're not superiour to some of the other bands in the prog death genre, and this is coming from an Opeth fanboy

Who's your favorite then?

Ok, you dumbass. I can't be wrong for stating my opinion. And yes, I think Opeth is the best prog death band.

They are your favorite prog. death band but not necessarily the best prog. death metal band. Would you agree with that?

Wee, I love being insulted on the internet. Devil's advocate. You stated earlier in the thread that you find that their musicianship outweighs any other prog death bands. You're wrong. Opinions can't be wrong, no, but what you stated can be wrong, yes, because it's a fact that there's better bands in terms of musicianship out there. They might be your favourite, but they're not the best in terms of musicianship.

Then again, this is the internet, where 13 year olds insult each other over the stupidest little technicalities.

And I'm a big fan of Opeth, to the point of fanboyism; however, I know where the boundaries lie.

You lose.

Well, that really depends on how you look at musicianship. If you are going solely on technical proficiency, then perhaps not. But if you're going on inventiveness, creativity, style... they can't be beaten

*EDIT* Just realised that I'm wrong, and am in fact talking about musicality rather than musicianship. My bad, sorry :)

The Sound of Perseverance. Beats anything Opeth have ever done IMO in terms of creativity (in the death metal genre)

Rarely do I see entire song verses based off of arpeggios, but TSOP by Death has quite a few songs with that style of writing. That album as a whole is a prog/tech death masterpiece, because IMO Chuck showed that he really was the godfather of death metal, by changing everything up, through all the albums. He started out with what he created, death metal, on SBG, and then each record he defied what he created.

And make no mistake, Chuck created death metal. I used to be a believer that Possessed started it, but Mantis/Death dates back to 82/83.

IMO, Chuck defied everything later on that he defined at the beginning.

Yes I know that rant makes no sense really, and yes I know you mistook what I said, but I had to give Chuck props too. Make no doubt about it, I love Opeth and I think all the band members are very versatile, however I have to give credit where credit is due. Opeth imo are the 3rd best prog death band that I've heard, only being third to later Death and Cynic.

How do I lose? Because I provide valid points, instead of calling people "moron" and "dumbass"?
No no, rest assured I have enough information to make you cry and rest the case. I'm just to lazy.

Well then, stop being lazy and post your arguements. After all, this is the internet where egos go out the window and we can just have calm discussions!
