Biggest Disappointments in Metal History

I'd have to say that a lack of any Anthrax material in 8 years is a huge disappointment.

Risk is a major piece of shit. I actually smashed the CD after a few listens. I wrote that band off for good. Nick and Marty leaving didn't help. I like em now again. I'm sorry they didn't play a single tune off Endgame when I saw them twice last year. I know they were playing all of RIP but they still played a few others.

Cancellation of Headbangers Ball was a huge let down but that show was already dead. They were playing Green Day and Offspring towards the end. For crying out loud. I was a fan of both of these bands back in the day but they having no shitting right to be on headbangers ball.

They're not metal, but AXL Rose is a huge let down. Appetite is one of my favorite albums. Why on earth would he fuck with the formula of just five guys with guitars, bass and drums and incorporate piano's, orchestra, and a line of back up singers. WTF, no wonder Duff, Sorum, and Slash all eventually walked away one by one.

Maybe I'm biased because there's no new Anthrax material, but the Damned Things is a disappointment. I haven't listened to the LP which is probably not fair. I'm probably being stubborn. At this point Damnocracy>the Damned Things as far as I'm concerned. I agree with IM09 when he said that Scott and Caggiano could have done something in the vein of SOD. A quick 7 song EP with blistering solos, heavy fast rythm guitar parts and some local hero metal singer with a sick set of pipes. recorded live in the vein of TGOTE.

The Angel and The Gambler might be the worst song ever recorded by the band.

"Don't you think I'm a saviour, don't you think I could save you, don't you think I could save your life?"

"Don't you think I'm a saviour, don't you think I could save you, don't you think I could save your life?"

"Don't you think I'm a saviour, don't you think I could save you, don't you think I could save your life?"

This song made me want to vomit. :puke:

It made ME want to dance to the cool hammond organ.

LOL. Yeah that is some fucked up shit for sure. I think this and that song "Weekend Warrior" that is on Fear of The Dark are their worst songs they ever did. "Whatcha gonna do on Monday" lol. As brilliant as Iron Maiden has been they have also done some shit that makes you want to scratch your head and be like "How the fuck can these guys actually sit and listen to this song and think it is good enough to put out on a CD with their name on it"

There are good and bad aspects to Blaze's voice, his voice seems to break alot and sometimes he sings out of key. At the same time his voice really fits The X Factor imo, & I think that album has some of Maiden's best guitar solos. Virtual XI sounds like a demo, everything sounds bad. FOTD is Maiden's most varied album, I like that they tried different things. They do a great AC/DC impression on From Here To Eternity & Chains Of Misery, I like their style more than the actual band! Maiden are at this point are a 100% progressive metal act, and I like that. I don't like them live, but I think their still making great studio shit.

Metallica are an absolute pathetic waste of musical talent, they have done nothing but chase the trends of the day since the black album (just like Bushthrax since SOWN). It's hard listening to them knowing they are trying so hard to be relevant, but it's great to laugh when they embarrass themselves by bringing out shit like Limp Bizkit or HIM and getting the bands booed. That's what you get when you try to be 'it' all the fucking time.

As much as we may not like it, Metallica ARE still relevant. They probably became more relevant to the majority of music fans when they stopped playing great music.

I like alot of Death Magnetic, but it definately wasn't as good as with the first four albums. Actually, I think everyone with open mind can admit there have been good songs on every Metallica album. But to me it just seems like another attempt from them to make a hit album, rather than just make the music they want, or music that's good. Now that nu-metal isn't the in thing anymore, and it's ok to listen to classic thrash, Metallica for the most part went back to that style, but made sure there were a couple of radio friendly songs on the album. That just pisses me off. I can't take the band seriously. And yeah I realize they are relevant but they try SO FUCKING HARD at it it's pathetic. This is why I don't want another Aerosmith album. They already destroyed their legacy with Dianne Warren, I can't fucking imagine them damaging it anymore.

Really? To me, Death Magnetic sounded like it could have been released between Justice and the Black Album. I'm actually looking forward to the next album if it means more thrash.

Aerosmith has always been classic. Their 70's material, all the way through the 80's and 90's with Permanent Vaction and Get A Grip. Even 'Nine Lives' in '97 had its moments.

I like most of the later Aerosmith albums. I don't mind the Desmond Child songs because he didn't make them sound too much like Bon Jovi, they still sounded like Aerosmith. I Don't Want To Miss A Thing, Fly Away From Here, or even that last song Tyler wrote himself Love Lives, that's total shit, I don't care what anyone says.

Are you saying 'Death Magnetic' wasnt good?

Why would anyone waste their hard earned money on a sell out band like Metallica. There so many other great metal bands that put out great music to spend your money on. Death Magnetic is exactly what Shadowofthewave said. It is their attempt to try and redeem themselves for making so many horrible rock albums the past 15 years. Nu-metal is finally dead... so they decide to try and make a thrash metal album and that is the best they can do??? Death Magnetic may have a few decent songs. But the last Testament, Slayer, Exodus, Overkill, Megadeth, Death Angel, etc records have destroyed that album.. and Metallica is supposedly the innovators of that style of music. They are seriously such a joke that I can't even believe people on this forum would even try to defend them. Just let it go people. Metallic died in 1988. It has been over 15 years. It's over just face it.
