Black Rose Immortal

uh from what i know from his earlier interviews mike doesnt like the production of morningrise but he has no problem playing songs off it (nectar and advent were both commonplace on the 2001 and earlier tours), "The NIght and the silent water" is the only one he has a problem with playing as it has connections with his grandfather passing away when they recorded it....

Well, bands often play less and less of their old catalogue as they go on, just because you get so many songs over a career that you have to drop some, and obviously longer songs like that will be the first to go as you can fit in 2 other songs in its place, and you want to get as many songs played as you can I suppose.

yeah and songs simply get stale and overplayed, the band has to draw the line when they start to hate the songs theyre playing just to please the fans, fuck the fans, they shouldnt ruin the experience for themselves by playing the same thing over and over, which is why im glad they decided to drop Demon of the Fall as the closer, that was getting monotonous at every show and i imagine it would start to grind with the band members too.

they play Under the weeping moon...
i think that BRI is good more than weeping moon..
or maybe that they tarsfered their bass and drummer after Morningrise..
i dont know...

Because it's 20 minutes long. That's the ONLY reason why many people like it. Personally, I like it because of it's atmospherical content and slowwwwwwwness.

Maybe they should start playing stuff off of Mroningrize though, it really needs some refreshing.

- like OMG Mroningrize needs some refreshing lmao

BRI might be my favorite Opeth song.
An lenth hasnae to do w'it.
I listen to full albums anyway.
I don't care if I don't hear it live though.

Sure its a great song with lots of memorable parts but the solo part at about 16-17 minute is very embarassing. Probably they just wanted the song to reach 20-minute mark and composed that crappy solo in a hurry. The final part of the song after the solo is great though. One of the most epic musical climaxes I've ever heard.

It's a good song, but sometimes when I listen to it, my A.D.D kicks in and I have to put on a shorter and faster song.

I agree with the epic musical climax claim here. The first 3/4 are interesting enough to keep me paying attention, but the part I love the most is the scream and fade out of the end. Sometimes people interrupt me at work just before that bit kicks in. Pisses me off.

I like it because of the middle part. If the song ended after the "Black Rose Immortal" whisper, I would like it just as much.
