Age:19

What Sort Of Metal Are You into:METAL! (ONLY THE REAL STUFF, like gold and iron and steel;))

What Do You Love In Metal:real fans, real metal bands, the ones that give a damn about the real metal fans! Fans who love the musica and not just the image, real people who are them selves in metal.

What Do You Hate In Metal:false fans, fans who only care about the image that being into "old school" metal will bring them with their mates. The bands who think they are more worthy of big crowds and feel that a small crowd isnt worth doing, even if that small crowd happens to be huge fans!

1st Ever Metal Gig:1st ever rock gig was ALICE COOPER, but 1st meal gig may have been motorhead. then they toured with anthrax a few back and saw them again:) motorhead rule!
Best Ever Metal Gig:BLOODSTOCK!!! not just a suck up line, loved it whole heartedly and to pick a specific set would be wrong as i think the entire weekend of 2003 was the greatest experience of my life!

Dave

Age:
20

What Sort Of Metal Are You into:
Gothic, Power, Symphonic, Black and a little bit of everything else in the right doses.

What Do You Love In Metal:
First and foremost, the music but also the sense of community and being in the same circle as probably the friendliest people on Earth, the fun and the tongue in cheek humour of many bands.

What Do You Hate In Metal:
Elitism and the attitude of 'if it's commercial, it must be bad'.

1st Ever Metal Gig:
I believe it was Rage Against the Machine

Best Ever Metal Gig:
A toss up between last years Nightwish gigs. Bloodstock for the great day out and the anticipation surrounding their first UK show. Mean Fiddler for the more intimate setting and (I thought) better sounding set.

A slightly old photo, but I still look the same. Except now with new improved longer hair and minus the plastic pint glass.

the division of metal - nu, goth, death, thrash, power, true (true - wtf is this

True metal is metal that keeps faithful to the original ways of metal, to be loud, proud and to drink and fuck!

Then you have false metal, which is all about £££ and who can release the greatest of ammount of shit albums and then remix the same album to make yet more £££.

I think too much true metal bashing goes on... its not elitist or owt, its just a laugh in my opinnion.. all the steel and leather crap... Im a fan...

Yeah I say I liek 'true' metal to people just to emphasive the fact that i do not listen to 'nu metal'
When i state true metal all I realyl mean is metal that is good. hehe

And even though i'm a total obbsessed metalhead and I personally do not know anybody who likes metal more than me (only considering people I know before anyone goes mad :p) .....I still like other stuff and do appretiate talent that is not in the metal genre!
For example I liek some reggae/ska like sublime or Madness. I lvoe Drum n Bass like the prodigy!!! I like some very old school hip hop on a rare occasion like wu tang-clan and I even sometimes listen to hardcore dance/techno/trance music when i'm in that sort of mood!
So don't nobody be coming to me saying i'm not open minded to different things because my cd collection is varied as fuck..more than i've seen anyone elses!!!!!
It may be 90% metal but theres a lot of other stuff in there too.hahaha

Just a little warning! ;)

Name: Ian, though most call me Beard

Age: 17, 18 by this year's 'Stock

What kind of metal: pretty much any, but in varied dosages...Power, prog and trad are my usual, but i dabble

What i like about metal: The fact that though many people find us scary, we're actually one of the friendliest bunches of people on the planet, the fact that metal can create that feeling in so many people, the keeping alive of legends! the variety, the girls...oh, i like some of the music too :p

What i don't like: over-classification! i have no idea what half these things mean, and it gets confusing when people overdo it. Also narrow-mindedness, and the tendency to just say "it's shit!" as if it's a fact....it's an opinion, if you don't like it, say so, but not like that :)..people who try too hard to be different, ending up just the same as each other...when people who like newer bands claim people like black sabbath are crap, when hardly any of this would probably exist without tony iommi & co...while i'm on the topic, the fact that ozzy's neglected his nationality to only do ozzfest in america when i've still not seen him, the bastard! oops, that was quite a bit...

First metal gig: Saxon in...Bolton's Albert Halls!

Best: prolly BS02

Will Fowler

Loadsa bloody annoyin nicknames - mel gibson, weeman, frodo, Lu, etc

What Metal I like: Traditional, NWOBHM, heavy, power, etc
What don't like: Black, Nu

What I like about Metal : The camaradery, the fun, the clothes, the fact that it takes talent

What I hate about Metal: The stereotypes and the fact that concerts always in bloody london.

First Metal Gig: Probly sum crappy punk thing, but first real metal was probably Iron Maiden at donnington or anthrax, can't remember when anthrax was

Best Metal Gig: Iron Maiden at sheffield arena last year.

I aint really metal enough but if you wanna see a crap one look at my avatar.

What kind of metal: Erm... on the whole I'm into more melodic stuff like Maiden and Helloween, but I like any type of metal as long as its good (eg Children Of Bodom).

What I like: With good metal you get the best of both worlds - the instrumental complexity of progressive rock or even classical music, but also you get music that's just damn fun to rock out and sing along to. Also I love metal with intelligent lyrics like Maiden and Queensryche. Oh yeah, and Helloween rule. I've also noticed that metal albums tend to be stronger as a whole, whereas most genres rely on two or three good singles and then a load of crappy filler. That may just be a genre preference, of course.

What I don't like: Fans who say stuff like "down with conformity" and "it's all about the music" and then go and whine that their favourite musician has cut his hair, hypocritical stuff like that. Also I dislike over-categorisation, since at the end of the day a good band should have their own style and not be confined to a single genre. Also I hate the judgements people make about you just because you're into Nightwish rather than Coldplay. Finally, I dislike meaningless fantasy lyrics. The odd song here and there is fine - in small doses, I like fantasy lyrics - but too many bands like Hammerfall are let down by stupid lyrics about warriors fighting side by side in the glory of their mighty dragon king for all eternity in EVERY BLOODY SONG. I still like Hammerfall for their riffage but not as much as I used to.

First metal gig: Bloodstock 2003... yeah I'm a newbie.

Best metal gig: Same as above. I've been to several gigs since then, the best of which was Iron Maiden in Sheffield, but even without taking the number of bands into account, Bloodstock obviously wins because you get to socialise with other metalheads (and musicians!) and so on. Plus you don't have to sit through shitty support bands like Funeral For A Friend and Godsmack. If you dislike a band at Bloodstock you have an entire building full of CD stalls to browse and cool people to talk to, but at the Iron Maiden gig I just had to sit it out and look hopefully at my watch every thirty seconds.

No picture at the moment, I'm not sure if I'll have one available any time soon either.

o yeah, forgot to mention i like gothic stuff like tristania and type-o negative...also didn't mention the"too much fantasy" in the lyrics as mentioned above, 'cos i thought i'd get killed :p most of the time i can put up with it, and in parts even like it, but bands like Rhapsody and hammerfall take it too far for me, i'm afraid...the riffs are good though!

What Sort Of Metal Are You into: Thrash/Swedish/Power/Speed/Prog/Black/Classic

Mainly - Iron Maiden, Slayer, CoB, Sonata, old tallica, Testament, Sepultura, Arch Enemy, Sabbath, Megadeth, Helloween, Dark Tranquillity, At the Gates, Nightwish, Dragonforce, and probably a ton of others Ive failed to mention...

What Do You Love In Metal:Intensity, the adrenaline from playing live or that which you get from a good gig, guitar harmonies, apocalyptic solos, technical moving epics, Long Hair, Leather, Denim, The sense of community, and most of all well written music and a band that believes in the music they play. Oh yeah - and Les Pauls or any other form of 'classic' guitar :)

What Do You Hate In Metal: Assholes that pay £25+ to go to a Maiden gig to watch ffaf, emo kids saying they are into metal, goths that are gothic for the sake of it, ie wearing ridiculous amounts of spikes that are in no way practical, just pointless. Kerrang, well theres plenty more to hate but anyway.

1st Ever Metal Gig: ummm ok might get ripped for this but, Slipknot in the NEC on the 20/02/02

Best Ever Metal Gig: Iron Maiden [ All 4 times possibly] Definately between the classic set at Donington03, or the NEC, um both had amazing atmospheres. cant decide, Id say Dream Theater are prety close just for being able to play so tightly live!

The picture thing - Well theres a picture of me on my bands site http://www.darkentheskies.cjb.net
im the guitarist with the white les paul. MP3s coming soon.....

What Do You Hate In Metal: Ticketmaster, Kerrang, anyone trying to kill off any particular kind of mwtal, hypocrits, lack of single attractive rock chicks sufficiently lacking in taste to find me attractive

1st Ever Metal Gig: The Killers at the St.Helens Citadel in '94

Best Ever Metal Gig: Iron Maiden/Slayer/Entomed @ Earls Court, London, summer of 2000, with the FC convention the next day. :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

Name: Tom

Age: 19

What Sort Of Metal Are You into: Death, Black, Gothic, Industrial Black, Viking, folk some prog, thrash and industrial

What Do You Love In Metal: The beauty of the art of metal, there is nothing so pure as the rage, Hate, joy, sorrow etc. conveyed by metal, I love getting in character for gigs and banging my head till my neck is numb and beyond.

What Do You Hate In Metal: Pousers, Christian Metal and NSBM, the "Black metai is Kvlt" crowd and other one dimensional genre snobs who reckon things should never change, metal is about evolution, if you want to listen to 5 identical albums then go and listen to britney fricking spears.

1st ever metal gig: Bloodstock 02

Best ever Metal gig: either Decapitated @ the underworld (28/02/04) because it had 4 bands I really wanted to see, Zyklon@ the underworld (06/03/04) because it was insane and they played I Am The Black Wizzards or My Dying Bride @ The Astoria (31/10/03) because it is the last time I have ever cried and Arron is a god
