They all sound very good and very much the same to me.
How can a dirt cheap pre be on the same level as an uber expensive pre?
I'm baffled.
Bring on the female and snare.

I think you hear the biggest difference when you have multiple channels of a pre stacked on top of each other.

8 channels of Neve 1081s on a drum kit vs 8 channels of Behringer on the same kit will sound different.

It is pretty hard to say x is better than y when comparing single channel samples. In a mix is when it becomes more obvious.

That's right. I forgot all about the layering aspect. Still though, I would have thought that the differences would be much more noticeable. I kinda feel like I got jipped now 'cause there were no layered samples.

somebody with better resources than me is gonna have to handle full mixes with different preamps
