Benighted aren't really "brutal death metal" nor are they slam, but I did play Saw It All on the air during my interning at the college metal station yesterday.

There are a lot of bands labeled as brutal death metal that don't sound like it to my ears. Nile, Desecration, Skinless, Defloration, Prostitute Disfigurement, Hour of Penance, etc., just to name a few.

Skinless and Nile just have mammoth sound. The vocals and the riffs are just a giant wall of sound. That is why people call them Brutal Death Metal.

And additionally, Skinless has some slam riffs, and Nile incorporate lots of blastbeats.

Willowtip seems to be putting out some of the best records right now. I really am liking their stuff.
